Morning,
I bought some boots from new look on 30th nov 2012 they cost £34.99
I've worn them 4-5 days per week since and I noticed yesterday the sold have broke where the heal is, where the heal meets the sole it's split iykwim
I don't have a receipt but could I still try and return them? I've looked on the website and they still sell them and still full price, plus they have a product code inside the boots.
Thanks x

You can try, nothing lost.
I would guess they might say fair wear and tear for the price, you have been wearing them for about ten weeks, 4 - 5 times a week so you have had 40 - 50 uses from them.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
Honestly, for cheap boots that have been heavily worn for over 2 months, I'd say its just wear and tear and not really something that you could return them for. Presumably they will be showing other signs of wear, so it would be hard to prove they were faulty rather than worn out.
It would have been nice if they had lasted a bit longer, but I don't actually think this is worth pursuing to be honest. I'd feel differently if they were £150 boots from Clarks...0 -
Thanks everyone, that's why I posted as I was unsure with them being cheap. I won't bother and won't be a tight wad from now on and buy decent boots lol0

I would give it a go - nothing ventured and all that. Do they look worn in other places?0

You don't need a receipt - just some proof of payment. Take your debit or credit card statement along with the item purchase highlighted.0

I wouldn't say 10 weeks wear is heavy use at all! Unless you are doing hill walking and 10 miles each day, I'd certainly expect a pair of boots to outlast one winter.Bern :j0

Yes, I'd expect longer than two months out of them as well. Try taking them back - you won't know unless you try. If the shop won't refund/exchange them, and you were going to bin them anyway, you've lost nothing.Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0

Ive bought a pair of boots from New Look for the past 3 winters, I think they cost me about £30, and they have always lasted me from around October/November time to around March and then they tend to get a small gap near the front so water leaks in so then I have to chuck them.
However thats longer than 2 months, I would not be happy with that really. And I have also worn them lots.
Unless you just took them to get re-heeled? If its just the heel thats the problem and if its in a fixable place?0 -
I'd buy another pair the same.. keep the receipt and take the old pair back in a fortnight.. but I'm dishonest like that

I'm on year 4 from my trusty old rocketdogs.. highly recommend them!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Absolutely return them, I believe the consumer phrase you should quote if they quibble is that they are 'not fit for the purpose for which they were intended'.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100
