For our previous passports I did the photos myself. We have a cream wall, set up the camera on a tripod, set up the photo like the one in the example, took the pics and sent them away. Passports came back within a fortnight. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Me too, I've never paid anyone to take them and I've certainly never paid anyone at the PO to 'check' my forms that I'm quite capable of filling in myself, or even better had printed off by the passport office.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

I have an HP photo printer which has passport photo as a size option, it even has options to print US and Australian size passport/visa photos too.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I rang the actual Passport Service (IPS) for advice. They said that as long as the background is cream or light grey, not white, it should be fine. They did mention that post office staff can sometimes be over-cautious, to protect their revenue.
If the photos were to be rejected by them (IPS), I would just have to supply new photos, and would not have to pay any additional fees. It would just result in a hold-up, and maybe the cost of a stamp. As I won't be travelling for months, this is fine by me.
. They told I could go back to the PO and insist it is sent off using existing photos. I am going to go ahead with this, just to prove the post office clerk wrong (hopefully!)..0 -

It looks different to when I did it, but I used something like https://www.epassportphoto.com
Upload the picture you want to use and then it will make a sheet of them for you to print out at the right size. Double check before sending them off though, I don't know how accurate they are (it says to take a photo on a white background for example, whereas it should be cream/light grey).0 -

Remember to order BORDERLESS prints or the size of your finished images will be too small.0
