Another phone that can block callers

Many of us know about Panasonic's call blocking phones but I see BT have one now too, the 6500 is part of the range http://www.qvcuk.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?partNumber=502882 (little video there too). Userguide http://www.shop.bt.com/content/uni2/documentation/73ln/bt_synergy_6500_userguide.pdf

Looks to only block 10 (compared to 25 on the Panasonic I think) but it does block international. 10 is a stupidly low amount either way.

The Panasonics can block everything of course and you just allow your white list (and have Night Mode set to 23 hours and 59 minutes).

Worth a look.

A downside to this phone is that it lets through nuisance calls if they have a number (and many do).

The facility to block incoming calls from just 10 numbers is just not enough, and will soon get filled up, meaning that all other nuisances using a number will get through.

You've obviously not read any of the links.

Just like the Panasonic you can have a white list which allows only those you wish to get through.

How do you know what I've read?

No need for your sarcy comments.

If you read what I wrote you'd have seen I was agreeing with your comment:

If you [had] read the links you will see it won't let anyone through if it's set up as white list only.

I wasn't being sarcy it's not in my nature :p

If it's from BT, it will be half-assed, badly implemented and a disappointment.

From what I've seen, it hits all those spots.

I bought the above that was promoted in leaflet sent with BT Bill.
I bought 2 handset option; after just 2 days the base station failed, with no LED's lit.

Disappointingly if you have other phones already, they will continue to ring, and only the calls you've elected to block on the BT6500 will cause that phone not to ring.
No's you've chosen to block by manually listing are also blocked from leaving message on the phone.
However, if you have BT1571 messaging switched on, it will get answered there.
Additionally though you can block International/Witheld/Unavailable calls, they won't be blocked from leaving message on phone.

Those this was sold by a BT branded shop, nowhere on the documentation received, or the www had any contact phone no's!!

    Same with the Panasonic.

We already have too many phones in the house so sticking with the Panasonic (4 handset option) was the best option.

I am thinking of buying the BT 6500 so am very interested in reading everyone's comments about it. Could you tell me when you buy the phone do you have to subscribe to the BT caller ID service or is just a case of you buy the phone and there are no additional monthly add ons. I would like one purely to block the caller withheld or we do not have the callers number as I seem to get some many of these.
    Any guidance greatly appreciated!!!

BT still have their -not free unless you like marketing lies- 'free' Privacy at Home service: http://www2.bt.com/static/i/btretail/consumer/btprivacy/faqs/index.html

TalkTalk have similar with no T&Cs except having to ask for it or ordering it via your online account.

I think Sky don't charge for caller ID too.
