My son runs his own business and asks for payment cheques to be in his name. Recently he has one made out to his business name - nothing like his surname.
The bank took it quite happily !

 If he's running a business from a personal account and does that regularly, he can expect his personal account to be closed when the bank find out.

Before I had a business bank account I returned any cheques written to my trading name to my clients.

The bank knows - that's why they accepted the cheque !

As long as it is in date, has the amount in words, the amount in figures, is signed and is payable to you along with the 's' it will be accepted by the cashier, and will not be rejected further down the line. Unless of course the person has no funds:wink:

Is it a personal current account?

Most banks have some kind of anti-business-use statement in their terms and conditions for personal accounts.

A quick update - I showed the cashier the cheque, and she quite happily accepted it.
