I just thought that I would draw the forums attention to this cowboy pursuing business through Private Messaging.

Rude, Obnoxious and ill-informed.

I wonder if the FSA would also be interested :A

No it's not, it's against the forum rules to seek business through PM. I was willing to give him a chance until he "misquoted" a 1% fee and then got agressive when I decided not to proceed.

But hey, I suppose thats fine too

Thanks for exposing that have you reported it to the abuse team? What do you mean aggressive? have you got some further evidence such as another PM or something or did he just phone you up shouting

How do you 'misquote a 1% fee'?

I asked about mortgage advice on here a while ago (I'm a FTB) I then recieved 2 pm from Wardlaw - as the spelling and punctuation was so atrocious on the messages I simply deleted them and he hasn't contacted me since.

If a mortgage broker, such as wardlaw, has both the time and desparation to resort to PMing posters blatantly touting for new business surely that should say something about his supposed 28yrs experience in the industry.

After that time he should be able to sit back and service his existing client bank and be far too busy to post here, let alone tout for new custom.

It is easy to spot the busy brokers simply by looking at the amount of time they spend on sites such as this. If a broker has time to spend posting here all day and night and is resorting to PM'ing people you have to ask yourself:

    a) If he is that good why does he need to tout for new custom and not work from referrals / existing clients

    b) How does he/she have the time to spend posting here all the time

Wardlaw has shown himself to be nothing more than a very desperate individual who does not understand a lot of what he posts (giving incorrect information regarding lending policies etc) and will never succeed in this business by resorting to using a chat forum to gain business.

Blood, guts and hard work along with a skin as thick as elephant hide is the only way to succeed in this industry. Nothing comes to you easily, certainly not by pathetic attempts to gain new business in such a way.

    Professionalism? I think not.

It's also against the rules to post peoples email adr's in the forum without their permission. I suggest you edit your post to remove it

Other than that, I think you've dealt with this in the right way - if anyone PM'd me in this way, I would have done what you have - named and (hopefully) shamed them.

You don't have to have a massive client bank and have spent eons in the industry to be a good broker - being a good broker is about treating clients with respect, courtesy and providing the right information in a timely manner and also complying with regulatory requirements- a responsible broker, no matter how many years experience will put the clients best interests at the heart of everything they do - and with that in mind, this has just been reported to his network.

His KFD showed his fee being 1% but I shouldn't worry about that as he has assured me he won't be taking a fee :rotfl:
