Three's latest offer - Can you do better?

Although I have already acquired a new contract with Simply3G (12 months free for 12 months on Video Talk and Text), Three contacted me to ask if I would consider changing my mind regarding termination of my existing contract. As this is my fourth year with Three I was well prepared for the usual barrage of persuasive options - give phone to spouse/sibling/friend etc. BUT I was not prepared for what they actually offered...

Keep exisiting phone on 18 month contract - free for 17 months with initial credit (for the whole 17 months) straight onto my account, final month £18.
500 mins and 100 texts per month!

This was offered 3 days before my 1 month notice to quit was completed so although I have already got another contract this initial phone is costing nothing if I use it wisely! Over to you to do the same - I was not a big spender on their network and usually averaged around £2-3 above line rental charges - which due to being with Simly 3g I get back anyway on my 12 month free contract... LIFE IS GOOD :j
Better to be silent and considered a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt!

The TT600 is the standard deal offered by 3 at the moment if you don't upgrade your phone.

On a 12 month contract you get 11 free and 17 free on the 18 month.

Are these offers what they seem? An offer taken up a few days before 11 months are up could affect your current 12 month agreement if it involved a downgraded tariff. This could then involve repayment of cashback or phone subsidy.

Wasn't there mention of a network trying this trick a few months back?

It's a straightforward no-nonsense, no gimmicks deal. 3 are just deperate to retain people. Signed up for my extension a few weeks ago and have received all my cashbacks from the Link without any problems.

I have just accepted a deal on 3: VTT500 (300 minutes, 150 texts, 25 MMS or video messages, 25 video calling minutes and £5 of downloads) for £5 / month.

This is a 12 month contract and entails keeping my old phone (which is fine since I like it!).

I know some web sites are offering completely free contracts plus a phone but they entail getting cash back by sending your bills in at various different months and I would forget.

    Cheers
