Data Protection Act Help!!!!

I’m looking for a little advice on the data protection act...
In September last year I was returning home, I turned into my street and was faced with a delivery wagon reversing backwards out of my road (I wont mention their name but it’s a very large company). As there was a car behind me I couldn’t back out myself so I sounded my horn and flashed my lights to try and alert the driver wagon driver to my presence, unfortunately he continued reversing and the only option I had to avoid him running into me was to mount the kerb and drive my car into the hedge.
After he had passed I got out of my car to go and speak to the wagon driver but he drove away, I took his reg number and called the company and a short whole later one of the managers called me back. I explained what had happened and told him that I’d scratched my car quite badly when I’d had to manoeuvre out of the way. The manager took my name, my phone number and my car reg number. He explained that the matter would be passed over to their insurers and I would get a call back within a couple of hours.
This is where it gets interesting…. a short while later there was a very aggressive knock on the door. When I got up to answer it I noticed out of the window that the delivery wagon that had nearly hit me was parked on my drive and it was the driver knocking on the door. Given what had occurred I chose not to answer it and instead called back the manager I had previously spoken to. Whilst I was waiting for an answer to my call, the driver continued to knock hell out of the door a further three times before leaving. The manager eventually answered my call and apologised for the driver calling at my home but when I raised the question of not only why he had called at my home but also how he had found my home as I had not given the manager my address, he could not present me with an answer.
The company insurers acted quite quickly in repairing my vehicle but the company themselves have not addressed the issue of the driver’s actions. As you will appreciate this matter caused quite a bit of distress and I can only thank god that my children were not home as they would have probably answered the door.
Would the manager passing my details to the very driver I complained about be a violation of the data protection act?

Hmm, strange. You would need to establish how the company found your address I think first if you say that you never gave them that info. It may be the case that the driver found out somehow himself from a neighbour perhaps.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. If this happened over 5 months ago why ask the question now?
I would read the Data Protection Act for yourself and if you feel the company has breached the act then go and see a solicitor.
The company would of needed the driver to inspect the damage of your car and have a face to face conversation to exchange information and accurately record the incident.
As for the driver knocking the hell out of your door, they may of been trying to get your attention if there was no door bell, or that's what they will say.

I think it's fair to say that the manager passed my car reg number onto the driver, and then the driver drove round the street looking for my car..0 -

After the company saying they would deal with the incident i didn't take any further action at the time. unfortunately though i was passed from manager to manager and eventually recieved a half arsed letter appologising for the matter but not explaining how it had occured. I've passed the matter over to a soicitor but i wanted to see if anyone one here would be able to shed some light on to it, i did report it to the poice but they advised that as the company has said it would be dealt with in house no further action was nessesary0 -

I don't think you're in any different position than you would have been had both vehicles stopped after an accident. i.e. you would HAVE to give the driver your name, address, and the registration number of your car, otherwise you'd be committing an offence.
So, it's difficult to see, IMO, how a complaint about the DPA would succeed.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
