Reason for claiming PPI?

Hello,
I am new to this forum!
I am hoping to make a claim for PPI on a credit card I had a few years back.
In terms of valid reasoning as to why I believe the PPI was mis-sold to me, for me it was a case where it wasn't made to sound like it was optional- therefore I took it out unknowingly.
Does anyone know if this this be a valid enough reason to make a claim?

How did you apply for the credit card ?
Did you have to take some action - tick a box or otherwise to say that you wanted PPI ?0 -
I applied in person at the bank.0

Ideally, you need both valid and verifiable complaint reasons in order to ensure success.0 -

Hello,
I just wanted to expand on my initial post in this thread about my reason for believing that I was mis-sold PPI. At the time of the meeting, the sales person did not explain to me that PPI was optional and that there was a cooling off period. In addition to this, the sales person was very pushy. The pushy nature of the sales person and not advising me that the PPI was optional/that there was a cooling off period meant that I felt that I could not say no.
Would these be valid reasons for making a claim?
Also just to note that this all came about when I went to the bank to just open a Bank account. I opened up a Bank account but in addition to this I ended up taking out a credit card with PPI. So from this it was clear that the sales person was upselling! (not sure whether if its worth mentioning this in my form)?
Any advice as to whether my reasons are valid and/or whether its worth mentioning the upselling on the form- would be much appreciated.0 -

Of course sales people are pushy. Thats their job. They would never get any sales otherwise. They offered you the credit card and you accepted. Since then you have used the credit card, so it must have been of some benefit to you. Cross selling is allowed.
At the end of the day, no matter how pushy they are, you are allowed to say no and make up your own mind. Personally, if someone trys to sell me something and gets too pushy, it gives me more motivation to say 'bog off'.
The cooling off period is in the T&C's in the paperwork you had, so even if they didn't explain that outloud (which they should of and its almost impossible to prove) its still in the leaflets/documents.
Unfortunately this is a weak complaint and very hard to prove you were not given the correct information, when you had the paperwork.
Can you think of any other reasons that might help you with your claim?Total Mortgage OP £61,000Outstanding Mortgage £27,971Emergency Fund £62,100I AM NOW MORTGAGE NEUTRAL!!!! <<Sep-20>>0 -
I am really at a loss now about what to do because these seemed to be valid reasons and were also outlined in Martin Money Savers Step 2-The PPI Mis-selling Check list.
I just wanted to check with forum users, seek some final advice before submitting my form. Now I don't think there is actually any point
I really don't what I can do? I thought I had a case but it seems I do not.
I can't think of any other reasons that may help my claim-this occured quite a long time ago.
What would you do?0 -
The only thing you can do is try. Maybe you will get lucky and receive an auto payout
I understand if you really feel you were not given the correct information, but the banks will just come back at you and say it was given in the paperwork, its your word against theirs etc.
Good luck whatever you decide.Total Mortgage OP £61,000Outstanding Mortgage £27,971Emergency Fund £62,100I AM NOW MORTGAGE NEUTRAL!!!! <<Sep-20>>0 -

This is a terribly weak complaint for which you STILL can provide no evidence. It will be swiftly rejected unless the Bank find other faults or you get lucky (as Lippy said above)with an auto-payout without any investigation.
Ideally, you need both valid and verifiable complaint reasons in order to ensure success.0
