Fraudulent O2 Broadband Account

Not sure if any of you guys can help me. I got a call today from O2 collections regarding 'my' O2 mobile broadband account. The had my correct name and obviously my phone number, however I have never had an O2 mobile broadband account. They asked for my address for security purposes, however they said the address they have is different. They also gave me the name of a person linked to the account, whom I have never heard of. I have checked my credit file and also my bank account and I haven't seen anything suspicious.
I am really confused. I guess this person could have gotten my name and number from anywhere. What I don't get is, how can they benefit from using my name/number, but not my address? Then it is not linked to me? So they aren't really using my credit history? Should I be concerned? Do I need to call the police?

They can be using your O2 mobile number to get £5pm discount on their broadband. Do you have an O2 mobile?
However a text is normally sent to the O2 mobile which then has to be entered into the order to set up broadband.0 -

No it definitely was O2 100% called from 0800 092 0840.
The number they called me on was an ex-O2 number however it is now with Vodafone. Until now I have received no texts/calls in relation to this account.0
