unfairly accused of theft

hi in need of advice,
my oh is a security guard on an initial 6 month contract and gets paid through an umbrella company. he does patrolling on night shifts and uses a watchman at checkpoints.
he went on shift a couple of weeks ago and he didnt notice when entering at 5.30pm whether the watchman was there or not, but at 6.00pm when he was getting ready for patrol he noticed the watchman was not in the charger point as it should be. the guy before him is saying it was there when he was on shift and he used it- even though there is no need to be using it on a day shift-
so now my oh is being blamed and may be liable for the costs? but there is no evidence he took it, which he didnt, and there is no proof that the guy on shift before him saw it either...
is my oh liable for the cost?

I think they'd need more evidence than that of the other security guard saying 'It wasn't me, so must have been him'. At the very least they'll need to carry out a full investigation. Are there are any cameras in the vicinity?
Sure there's not more to this than your partner is letting on? Seems awfully flimsy to me.0 -
What is a 'Watchman' ?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
-
watchman is a devise used for patrolling during night shifts-it is touched against touch points to make sure a patrol was carried out....
my oh could not inform the shift manager as he was underground, but logged it in the patrol book and told another worker.
but the agency wants my oh to pay as the other guy is saying it was there when he was on shift.
its an expensive device and we dont have the money0 -
what has he actually allegedly taken? Whats the 'it'?0

Either no one pays or the costs are spilt 50/50 between your OH and the other guy."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

waychman is a gadget thats used on patrols to make sure a patrol has been done i think. we are in agreement to 50/50 split but the company r saying my oh solely just becaus ethe other guy is a supervisor....even though there is no log of him using the watchman...these watchmans cost roughly £1000, and we dont have that kind of money and really dont know what to do. oh has insurance through an umbrella company but may not pay out as they dont see it as oh fault.....0

sod that. demand an investigation if he's confident it wasn't him.0

I would not agree to a 50/50 split. This is an allegation of theft and not be taken lightly. I would tell the company that if they are accusing me of theft then the police must be involved as I would wan my name cleared.Slimming World at target0 -
Sorry, cant read post 7 coherently. I cant read text-speak. Would it be possible to type out again in readable and bite sized paragraphs. Could you also use capital letters, commas and question marks.
Im sorry if I sound a bit pedantic but I feel I could support you more if I knew what you are going on about...0 -
Whilst the item might be expensive, presumably it has very limited uses, so what would be the point of stealing it?
Would make sense if it was a laptop/ipad
All seems very oddThere are three types of people in this world. Those who can count and those who can't.0
