Advice on 7 seater with a large boot too.

Hi, need your advice please, we have a grand scenic that we are looking to replace. we have 4 kids (2 in boosters,1 in a carseat )so def need 7 seater. However we also need it to have boot space when six seats are being used, nd the scenic just doesnt have it. Can anyone recommend one please. Dont have a budget at the moment but we are looking for one no older than 5 years, economical, reliable and doesnt cost a fortune to repair/service etc.
Thanks.x

  • If you only need 6 seats what about something like this http://www.usedcar.citroen.co.uk/national-used-car-locator/Citroen-Dispatch-Combi-4966599/?makeId=261&modelId=14174

Two rows of 3 seats and massive load space.

Galaxy or one of the clones?

Doesnt cost a fortune to repair or service. As most newer cars have sensors on everything repair costs have gone up.

A clutch on a modern diesel can cost £1200 at a dealers. Dual mass flywheel pushes the price up, But a lot of modern cars have them.

Agree with this. Other similar options are a Ford Connect Tourneo and a VW Caravelle.

The Citroen and VW can be up to 8/9 seaters.

I have a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso and love it.

It is a 7 seater BUT if you aren't using any of the 5 back seats you just fold them into the floor giving more storage space. Even with all 5 rear seats up there is still some boot space.

I have owned several Espaces, Galaxies, a Sedona and a Nissan Serena. The Citroen is the most versatile, is comfortable and economical too - we get 38mpg for the weekly school runs and over 44mpg on longer runs. ALthough its a bigger car its light on its feet and easy to manouevre and has great visibility for those in the vehicle.

Whilst I agree about the C4 Grand Picasso (I have one ;)) I don't think it meets the OPs requirements.

I assume that with 4 young kids they need a lot of boot space for buggies and all the associated paraphernalia of young children, and whilst the C4 is versatile, the boot space with all the seats up is limited.
  • Thank you everyone. That citroen is huge!!! It looks like it would fit the bill but im not keen on 3 seats in the front. Not sure how that would work with car seat/boosters. I love the c4 but i think you are right about boot space. We tend to go on s/c holidays and 4kids n travelin light do not go hand in hand lol. Plus i have a husband whi would quite happily forgoe clean clothes if it was eithet that or his fishing kit!! Think i will be taking a look at old school 7 seaters as i agree with the costs. Our car has been a nightmare n i thank god we had a warranty.

You could see if there is one local-ish and have a look, take the seat/boosters (and kids if poss) and try them out to see if it's practical.
  • hmmm. good idea actually.booster seats tend to be quite wide and 2 plus a full car seat can be a struggle in any car!
    thank you.

Worth thinking about a roof box - we've got friends with 4 kid who manage to get the stuff for a weeks camping in a C4 with a roof box on the top. It is a bit of a jigsaw getting it all in but if you aren't taking the tent etc it should be possible for a self catering holiday.

  • We did think about that, but tbh we rid of the scenic. Its had a lot of problems so think its time for a change but a roof box obviously gives us more options. Thanks.x
