Well....if a default has been registered against his name by Vodafone and unless Vodafone is willing to remove it then it will stay on his file for 6 years from the default date....it will not make any difference to bank if debt has been paid.....default must be removed.

And he has acknowledged the debt by paying it so the default is a true history of his credit history.

Its very very unlikely that if the default is indeed there, that they will remove it, it will stay there for anothe 5.5 years and yes, it will affect him.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

So it will be 6 years before a loan would be given ?

I'm quite surprised as he took out a contract phone last month with absolutely no problem and he has a mortgage in their

I would ask Vodafone if they will be willing to remove the default as a GOGW. To a lender a default is a default paid/unpaid what ever the amount.

Thanks, what does GOGW mean ? Would they just call them up and speak to customer services to do this ?

The other route is trying to get the loan though the car company but thinking they might also decline ?

Sorry "gesture of goodwill" it may be better to write to them as you may have a hard slog trying to deal with customer service due to the nature of the query.

You could email them using the following address:

    credit.referrals@help.vodafone.co.uk

Just give them puppy dog eyes and say your about to apply for first mortgage etc to try and soften then up :rotfl:

The worst they can do is say no :D

Thanks, it's worth a try. He is so annoyed as he has always prided himself on having a clean credit score and always makes payments on time ( or thought he did lol) turns out the £27 was a cancellation fee that he ignored.

We don't have his account number or the phone number it was under but we managed to make payment so will email them with all the info and hopefully at least get an answer.

He is gutted, away to work in a bad mood now. :(

Well its worth a try, im a believer of what you don't ask for you don't get :D

Why were all Vodafone letters ignored then as I'm sure if the account was being unpaid letters would of been Sent out?

They were to his old address, as far as he knew the contract had been ended and settled, that is until today when he got a credit report copy.

Well I only assume they were to his old address as none came here ( I open his mail - with permission) and he would definately not have let this lie, especially such a small amount.
