Okay, I confess, I've not fully searched the forum, although I've tried to search this topic.
Does anyone know how often the tariff list is updated?
I've recently switched (Green Star Energy - 1506 BIGDEAL -BD1), but can't update my details as the tariff's not listed.:(
I'm wondering if it won't be included as it's a limited avaiability tariff.0 -
The issue of the 'Inflated Savings Methodology' has been raised with Govt and OFGEM. Not surprisingly, both are holding the line that an assumption has to be made at the end of a fixed term contract, and an assumption that a customer will do nothing, and default to the supplier's standard variable tariff is better than no assumption at all. If you disagree with OFGEM, then e-mail your MP but do not be surprised if you get a standard response. At least the MSE CEC recognises that there is a problem and it is attempting to point out that potential savings may not be what they appear to be. Simply, if you inflate the 12 month cost, then you also inflate the potential savings. Like others, I also double check costs/savings on a simple spreadsheet. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Hi VoucherMan
Unfortunately Green Star Energy hasn't yet released the tariff details for this one - although we are chasing it for this. Hopefully we'll have this shortly so that you're able to monitor your new fix via Cheap Energy Club.0 -

In case you're willing to accept unofficial details, here's a copy of the tariff details (click image for larger copy)0 -

Hi VoucherMan
Unfortunately we'd need to get the prices for all energy regions, so we've asked MoneySuperMarket to add this in through the official routes. We'll have this live shortly I'm sure!0 -
Really disappointed with the switch to Eon I made via the Energy Club collective deal.
When I moved in January I was quoted £66pm for my usage compared to my previous provider NPower £79pm.
My final NPower bill came through & I had over £100 credit and they were going to reduce my bill to £66pm.
6 months in I get my second bill with Eon showing a debit of £178 & a message that I should increase by my monthly Direct Debit to £91pm... £25pm more.
Hardly the deal I thought I would getting, usage not much different to last year's with NPower, wish I'd stayed with them now as can't afford to move to a cheaper tariff with the £178 I would owe Eon plus the £10 early exit charge 0 -

Are the opening meter readings on your first bill from E.on the same as the closing readings on your last bill from nPower?
Have your bills been based on your actual readings or on E.on estimates?Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

Opening meter readings are correct & I have provided meter readings every month0 -

Also, remember that the past 6 months have been mainly winter consumption and each of the next few months should be significantly lower than each of the past six. A debit balance at this point in your cycle is normal but your account should move into credit over the summer.
The message from E.on is suggesting that you increase the DD but if you think an increase is not justified then just leave it as is and send an email to them explaining your reasons for doing nothing.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

Hi bargainbuyer73
Our Monthly Direct Debits are based on past usage and current prices. As the unit rates on the MSE Collective Tariff are fixed, like Consumerist, I suspect higher winter usage has caused the recommended increase now you've reached the half way point in the agreement. I'd expect this to even out over the summer.
The aim is to have as near as possible to a zero balance by the time of the 12 month review. At this point, any credit balance over a fiver will automatically be refunded. Where more than expected has been used, any debit balance will be included in the ongoing arrangement and spread up to the next review.
Given how usage can vary as individual circumstances change, we've an online tool called the 'Direct Debit Manager.' This gives customers more control over arrangements. Provided you've registered with our website and the account is billed up to the latest meter readings, payments can be changed by up to 20 per cent up or down. By up to 5 per cent up or down without readings. Before confirming the new amount, we'll let you know by how much we anticipate the account will be in credit/debit by the time of the annual review if payments are changed but usage doesn't alter as expected. Might be worth a look.
Also agree with Consumerist, make sure your readings have been used for billing. If not, we'll be happy to re-bill to your readings.
Hope this goes some way to explaining bargainbuyer. Let me know if you need any more details.
