It's very difficult to get the data to include Northern Ireland - but we're working on it! Because competition has only recently opened up it's still a very young market.0 -

The problem with DD amounts is it will in most cases give inaccurate results on switching sites but in the case of the MSE Energy Club it actually goes a step further - it would make all the subsequent recommendations in the future based on an initial inaccurate result.
We understand where you're coming from but some people are put off doing a comparison at all if they had to use kWh. While it's not ideal by any means it's better than not comparing at all, and hopefully we make it clear that you'll get a better results by using kWhs from your bill. (Thanks for the feedback).0 -

apart from which is a good thing that sparks wont be getting my custom ,and that i need to phone my current provider for more details . martin makes this look so easy on his tv show , they dont sit for hours blindly going insane .
what issues are you having? Could you email energyclub at moneysavingexpert dot com0 -
I'm not sure how reliable the comparisons are in my case. I've input the estimated usage for the coming year from my last statement from EDF (which are about the same as my actual usage):
Electricity 7797 units £962.93
Plus standing charge £ 51.10
Gas 14715 units £539.40
Plus standing charge £ 80.30
Discounts £106.02
VAT £76.38
Total £1603.99
This equates to £133.66 a month. My actual payments are £131 a month due to a small credit on my account.
The Energy Club calculator tells me that with these readings I am paying £1766 a year or £147 a month. The cheapest fixed is with First Utility which is supposedly saving me £156 a year/£13 a month, although it would actually cost me £1610/£134 a month according to their figures!
I know I should be able to get a cheaper deal but I don't think I can take these figures at face value.
Don't forget there have been on average 10% price hikes in the last couple of months (more for some). This is probably since your last bill and is quite likely to be the reason for the difference (though can't say for sure without knowing what you've put in).

Please can the comparison include the Independent Gas Transporter charge? For those of us who have to pay it, it makes using comparison sites tricky.
We'll take a look. These charges are becoming more uncommon but happy to look again.0 -
(Re-posting this here just in case - I originally emailed it to the address given for feedback in the original email about the Cheap Energy Club, but that now seems to have changed to this forum thread)
I've just got the email about the new Cheap Energy Club. It looks like a good idea, and I've been meaning to check my electricity prices for a while so I went to sign up straight away.
However, there is one feature I was really hoping it would have, which would be very useful (at least for me) and would further set it apart from normal comparison sites.
Rather than having to enter my actual annual or monthly usage, I'd like to be able to enter any meter readings that I've taken, along with the date of each reading, and it would work out what that averages out to over a year.
....
Interesting suggestion, I'll add it to my list. We're already looking into including midata into the tool, which will (hopefully) be even better.0 -
It must be very depressing seeing all those comments from people who had a problem. So I wanted to say THANKYOU. Cheapenergy club kicked me out of inertia mode and I've signed up for a new supplier with no problems at all. (so far = two hours)0

I think you would need to provide the following information if you want anyone to check it out for you.
i.e.
1. What is the annual usage figures you used (entering these in kWh is the only way to get an accurate output)
2. What supply region are you in (or first part of your postcode)
3. What is your current tariff
Don't be misled by monthly amounts paid by DD. Perhaps you already have an accrued credit on your account? Perhaps you are builing up a debt? Perhaps the DD has not been increased to reflect recent price rises? Perhaps a new supplier does not charge you 1/12 of the annual bill initially if you join them in winter? (It tends to be the samller suppliers that do this as they don't like you to be in debt)
Thank you for the help Wywth. I have entered the annual KWH figures and other details you suggest and the calculator tells me I pay £1928 per annum. I don't - I pay £1584 to Eon whom I have used for several years and am currently in credit. I don't understand the discrepancy. I have built up some discounts which amount to about 10% but adding these on does not explain the difference. I also get Tesco points on my bill. I won't be switching until I understand the figures.0 -
