So sorry for later reply, but thanks you all so much for your suggestions. Asda's out. As is JL just for the price (unfortunatley my mother is as tight as a nat's @rse so a tenner is NOT a bargain - she'd die of shock if anyone spent more than £3 on a plain white t-shirt, and Dad wouldn't know what to do with himself!) I'm going to try out Primarni, Fruit of the Loom and M&S. Thanks all!

Alternatively, as he wears them already, can't you just ask where he gets them from now and buy from there?
Ha ha ha he was saying that as they start wearing thin he stops wearing them in public and shifts to wearing them in bed, and buys new ones for the day time. Well now they've all worn out, and as the "newest" ones are now about 15 years old he's at a loss. He says you know you need new clothes when the standard of the ones you have is so bad that you'd feel ashamed giving them to a charity shop. Some of them have so bad they're just a collection of holes held together by the collar, seams and hems!
  • Sainsburys t shirts are nice IMO. They often do 25% off all clothing too. They are reasonably priced to begin with so 25% makes them cheap!
  • Cotton traders t shirts wash and wash really well. I don't think they are too expensive, and they do a good range of larger sizes.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Uniqlo, as they're usually very good for basics. Their basic white t-shirts are £4.90 each.
