Sorry but I just had some wrong info removed from My equifax file. No other CRA held this information as it was wrong and should never have been on my file. It was a CCJ and it did not show on the registry trust because it had been paid off within the 30 days. Equifax were wrongly holding this information and needed a kick up the ..... to remove it.

That is a different matter....maybe they had been slow removing it following the request from the lender....but Equifax only put information provider by the lender or organisation, they did not put it in the first place because they thought it ought to be there....

You could write to the following address with your concerns:

    ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND
    RETAIL BANKING OPERATIONS
    DEBT MANAGEMENT OPERATIONS,
    4TH FLOOR,
    7-10, BRINDLEY PLACE,
    BIRMINGHAM,
    B1 2TZ

As this is the department that send the debt to an external agency.

Was the defaults also registered with experian and call credit?

  • Why will I have a hard time getting it removed? it is wrong and should not be on my file.

I have the endless pages of complaints I have written to Equifax, and with the responses I have received from Arrow to say it is nothing to do with them.

To be honest your responses to my question Stephane has really irritated me, you are not giving helpful advice just that I won't get it removed. Oh that is all right then, it doesn't even have a default date which is against the law, but hey I won't get it removed.

They are storing incorrect data which is three years out of date the natwest default fell off my report in 2010, and I have complained about Equifax and Arrow so I will leave it to the experts the ICO and FOS to sort it out because I have had enough.
  • No it is just Equifax, all my other reports are fine.

So who have you raised your complaints with so far and what have been their responses.

If your concern is not resolved to your satisfaction within 8 weeks you can take the matter to financial ombudsman.

    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/contact/index.html

Given the length of time of your concern im surprised you have not done it sooner.

You can start the concern over the telephone then they will send you a form to sign and return to get the ball rolling.

  • This complaint has been on going for over two years, I have complained to Equifax, and have written numerous letters and e-mails to Arrow global who Equifax says put the default on there. Arrow deny it is anything to do with them and Equifax say they can't remove it even though they have all the eveidence it was an original default from Natwest.

I am currently filling in the complaint to the FOS, so that will go off tonight and I complained to the ICO last week, so hopefully should get it sorted soon.

I would just let the FOS deal with it now as your clearly not getting the answers you require from any other source. The ICO will not respond to you anytime soon it took them months to even start looking at my concern which ive since had resolved.

Just to give you an idea of the timescales involved when complaining to the ICO.

I raised a complaint to them regarding Motormile Finance refusing to comply with a S7 request back on October 30th. Whilst they've acknowledged, its still being investigated by the ICO even though they have all evidence to clearly show refusal to comply.

They're extremely busy and backlogged so I would expect at least 8 weeks for a response and 12-16 weeks for resolution when going down that route.

How many times have you filed a dispute with Equifax relating to this data, unfortunately they will only contact the company responsible for the data and will make no efforts to validate it apart from that. If the company confirms data accurate, then Equifax lawfully cannot remove / amend the data unless you send them the documentary proof that it is incorrect.

    Good luck

EDIT: also worth mentioning, if Arrow Global have confirmed that they are not responsible for the entry, do you have this in writing? If so, send this to Equifax, with a letter headed 'FORMAL COMPLAINT' and demand that they verify who the owners of this data is and confirm its validity?

It was for a utility bill and it had been showing on my equifax file for 2 years.
The water board had sent all the paperwork to the court correctly and the court had not registered the CCJ.
it is a mystery how equifax got the info but it was wrong and they had to be made to put it right.
