Have made the journey to the south of France (Calais to the Camargue ), using the motorways in about 8 hrs, but that is not possible in the high season i.e August, where everyone is on the road, especially weekends.
I would like to have seen that;)
You would have been averaging nearly 90MPH for the whole trip, including the Paris ring road and Lyon, not to mention the toll booths.
How much did the speeding fines come to?0 -
I have a friend who comes to the South 2-3 times a year, leaving home in Kent, through the tunnel to the South (near Narbonne) takes him 16-hours using lots of motorway.
Personally I take 2 days.0 -
I was once fined 900FF for doing 235kph
I had to go see the magistrate and everything
That equated to around £100 - or a week's wages - for me at the time0 -
Well I am certainly not planning on getting any speeding tickets thats for certain!!0

We drove down to Antibes in the South of France with 3 kids in tow. We did it in one drive although I wouldn't recommend it! We used a website called Mappy I think it was, which told you the exact tolls you would pay, and how much you would pay in fuel.
We didn't use a sat nav at all, I navigated us all the way there with an AA Road Map and really enjoyed it!Mortgage 31.5.2011 - £212,329Mortgage now £209,244 :TEmergency Fund £10000 -
Outbound arrangements now in place.
Ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge on Wednesday 15th August. Means we have from arrival in Zeebrugge (Thursday 16th 8.30am approx) until the Saturday 18th (4pm check in) to do the drive, so plan on stopping two nights en route, and breaks the drive into smaller amounts so we can maybe see a few places on the way other than motorways!!
Return yet to be booked, but more than like go via Calais/Dover allowing couple of days to do the drive up to Calais on Thurs 29th/Friday 30th August getting the ferry either late on the Friday night or the Saturday morning.0 -
anybody want to offer some advice / tips on where would be good to stop en route to Frejus then?
Driving from Zeebrugge on the Thursday morning, two night stop overs then arrival at La Baume, Frejus by 4pm on the Saturday - so plenty of time to space the drive out and see a few other places on the route.0
