Pc world, faulty PC bought online 1 week ago, told to take it to store.

I got one of those new Core2Duo Pc's from the thread here, for the most part its great, but when I got it, it turned on, but had no picutre, In took cover off, and unscrewed graphics card and put it back, and it worked fine, but now the PC just beeps when it turns on.
I take it apart, and each time have same problem, either it wont turn on at all, or turns on but has no picture.
Anyway I finally sort it by putting the ram in the second ram slot.
But the PC has crashed quite a few times during week, giving me memory errors or just freezing and I have to power off at back.
I bought some new ram today, same brand, speed etc, and plug it into first slot, again not recognised, I try without the original stick in, get the beeps(which after google search shows as ram not being recognised)
I phone technical support the first time I was told to download latest Bios, which I did, but I am unable to install without a floppy drive, and even then its very dangerous as it can fry the motherboard.
I phone back and get a better spoken Indian person(its a typical Indian call centre) and shes more friendly and very polite, I cant fault that, and easier to understand than some British call centres!
Anyway im on phone for about 20 minutes, as she wants to go into detail, I explain that ram slot 1 doesnt work, and she advises me to go to their website and run ram test, but it isnt working.
She then says they cant do any more without me going into my local PC World(40 miles away for one, and I dont have car, and also even then its in an industrail estate 90 minutes from town, with only 1 bus an hour!)
Also I dont have a recovery partition on my PC so I cant make backup Vista discs.
I want the PC, just want it fixed and maybe something as a goodwill gesture.
I just want to know exact rights, going that far to local store doesnt sound right to me. especially for a 1 week old(to the day) PC
Only good thing, is im now using my new ram instead of the one that came with it, the PC has sped up and hasnt crashed or given me memory errors once.

Did you buy the PC from your local shop? If so, normal practice is that you take it back where you bought it. However, you could try calling the shop and explaining, and if they want to be helpful they might find some solution.0

I should of said, it was an online purchase.0

PC World don't repair PCs in their stores, as far as I know. It seems like they were suggesting the local store would refund you. Which seems unlikely as even though they are they are all the same chain, the manager probably wouldn't take it back as you didn't get it from any physical store. At most, they'd maybe have a quick look at it. Personally, I'd call the phone line again.0

whats the money back guarentee time frame? its usually between 7-28 days
if its within that time they you could probably demand a visit or replacement delivered0 -
Lol typical PC world0

They say I now have to organise delivery with DHL and send back to them(at their cost) which means I will be without a PC for weeks.0

IMO you are lucky they are taking it back. Normally as soon as someone opens the case it is guarentee void.0

I was thinking the exact same thing!
Another thing I dont understand is that they offered for you to take it back to a store and you're not happy with that. Now they say they will collect at their expense (typical of a collect and return warranty) and you're not happy with that either so what exactly do you want?

I bought a PC from Mesh Computers, it went back to them Return to Base after two years with a significantly different specification than what it was when they sold it to me (but the fault was with a part that they supplied). The fact I'd messed with it myself wasn't an issue at all.
The way it should be, IMO.0
