How to scrap my car

I have an old Corsa that has been SORNED for a couple of years - it's never going to go again so I need to get rid of it. I've looked at a couple of 'scrap my car' type websites to find someone who will come & get it, and hopefully give me some cash, but wondered if anyone's had any experience with these, or any recommendations etc. TIA

Why does everything have to be done via a website nowadays?

Just ring up your local scrap dealer. They will send a guy round with a truck.

Follow them back to their yard where they will weigh your car in and pay you out (payment is now via cheque or paid direct into your acccount). You will probably get £100+

www.cartakeback.com no messing. We're very good when I used them.

Alternatively, Gumtree, spares/repairs, buyer to collect.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping to do it via internet purely due to the time factor, don't really have the time to go to a scrap yard, and not able to 'bung it on a trailer' as suggested, otherwise I woud do that. I just want the least hassley way of doing it, so someone who woud come & get it and gve me the cash would be ideal. I'll have a look at car takeback.

I looked a few minutes ago. It seems to me it's just an intermediary for a few existing places, but it doesn't have them all.

I'd try a look in Yellow Pages or similar as well, for the complete selection locally
  • Go early in the morning when no one around and drive it down to weigh in would be the sensible option.
  • Don't forget to refund your vehicla tax before you sell it!

    Not at all sensible.

It's got no road tax and it's not insured

The offered values I saw differed by £10 between collection or taking the car there.

That's a very expensive risk for £10 extra
