Saving text messages from old phone
I'm getting two smartphones shortly, an android & iphone. I want to save some text messages which are on my current phone, an old Siemens C45.
I'm also going to change networks.
My existing number will be ported to the iphone but I won't be able to use my current SIM card in that so how can I save the text messages?
Is it possible to transfer these text messages to the other smartphone (Android) even though it will have a different number and network?
Thanks in advance

How about using a USB Sim card reader to download the messages to your PC?
e.g.

OR.. can you forward those SMS's on to someone else's phone, that might be able to store them online?0 -
I have an app installed on my android phone called sms backup +. It backs up all text messages and links with my gmail account. I can restore these messages if I wish. I have downloaded the same app on my new phone (another android) and could transfer my texts if I wanted. I don't know if this app is available for iphones.0

How does this help to extract texts from 'antique' C45?0

I think it's not that simple, but is worth trying. The capacity of a sim card is very small (AFAIK 128Kb max). The manual says to delete or save messages when the memory is full. It isn't clear where the messages get saved.ringo_24601 wrote: »Didn't those old phones store SMS onto the SIM cards? If so.. you need a SIM card reader to get them off0 -
ok then.. the other way would be using a data cable and appropriate software...
here's the cable:

Sadly, I can't find the software. Maybe the OP still has the CD?
Otherwise.. Pen and paper! It's a 12 year old phone after all0 -
I don't think that there was any CD.
And the cable on the photo is definitely a wrong one, but this is possibly just the photo.
The manual mentions connecting the phone to a PC only as a fax-modem.0 -
Would it be possible to forward the texts from your old phone onto your new one with the new sim before your number ports?
If so then your texts will be on your new phone.0 -
Thanks for all of the replies. Would the USB SIM card reader recognise & store the text messages and would it be compatible with a Mac ( may be getting one soon)
Have just put SIM card in another phone and there are no text messages showing. Tried other SIM card in own phone & no text messages showing either.
Does this mean the messages would only be viewable on existing phone & SIM card?
Any other suggestions?0
