Due an upgrade this Saturday with O2. Currently on discounted online 200 (200 mins and 500 txts @ £15 per month)
Whats the chance of me getting kept on that deal plus getting a new phone when i call this wknd? Anyone getting kept on their discounted deals?
Also, when i phone to upgrade, am i better to just ring retentions rather than the normal O2 number?

You should get a new phone on renewing your contract.
That tariff may not get you one of the top notch phones but you should still be able to get something like the Nokia 6233 which is a pretty good phone.
MP3, FM Radio, 2Megapixel camera with video function and 8x digital zoom.
Memory can be upgraded by microSD card.
Great! I love mine and my contract is only £14 a month0 -
Och i dont mind paying maybe 50- 60 quid for the phone, as long as i can stay on the same tarrif.0

02 upgrades are pretty lame and they wouldnt let me go onto a 12 month contract.
My advice is try your luck but prepare to leave- thats what I'm doing!!0 -
I phoned O2 yesterday and said I wanted to cancel and could I have my PAC number. I was offered the same contract i.e. £30 per month with £15 per month cashback for another 12 months (but keeping the same phone, which I'm quite happy with).0

When I phoned last month for an upgrade there was no problem at all. New phone, K800i, and same reduced tarriff for the next 12 months. Just phoned the upgrade number on the webWe all evolve - get on with it0

Retentions seem to give better deals than the normal customer service line, I was quoted £100 credit on a £25 month deal 100 mins 100 texts or a new phone W850i on a £30 per month deal, she said it was because I had already had a discount last year and a new phone. So I left that and called again yesterday and said I'd seen a good deal with Orange £25 with new phone £100 credit 225 mins 50 texts, she offered me the phone £20 per month, 200 texts and 200 minutes and a bluetooth headset. These were both on 18 month contracts though, I think I could've got more minutes but I don't use them so thought better not to be greedy!
If you quote another provider you are in with a better chance of getting what you want I think.
I'm not a heavy user I rarely go over my minutes so I think its ok for what I use.
Good luck, if you smile down the phone I think that works too, more likely to help you than if you are aggressive!!!0
