Hey Everyone,
I've got my electric with scottish hydro, I've just had a phone call from their sales team offering a phone and broadband package (didnt even know they did this!)
Anyway I declined as currently in a contract with bt, paying around £40-60 a month.
However I was curious as she was offering the same service for half the price around £26 a month!
I'm thinking there must be a catch here.
Anyone got hydro phone and broadband, is it any good?
Kind Regards

Why do you think there's a catch? There are many, many providers (either unbundled or BT Wholsale) that do Broadband cheaper than BT.
I'm with Sky for Phone and Broadband and get it cheaper than £26 a month, so £26 isn't at all unreasonable.
Did you check their website? http://www.hydro.co.uk/broadband/0 -
Alright, I just dont understand how there can be such a major price difference, are bt known for being ridiculously expensive or something?0

HAHA! Yes, yes they are!!
BT are the most expensive provider out there.0 -
Oh god, shows how much I know. I'm surprised they've still got costumers!
Might just cancel my contract now.0 -
All companies are the same ... they only give the offers either to new customers (not costumers
) or existing customers who complain/threaten to leave.
Customer loyalty very rarely works in the customer's favour without the customer being forceful.
PS - My MIL had (has?) Elec/Gas/Phone with Hydro (actually SSE - Scottish and Southern Electric). She doesn't need (so doesn't have) broadband.0 -

Yep, BT are widely renowned for having the most expensive phone and broadband packages.
I only went with BT for my phone because installation was free. Even then I didn't take their Broadband, I went with O2 because they do half price Broadband for O2 mobile customers. So I was paying BT for my line rental and O2 for Broadband.
Once my 12 months was up with BT and O2 I moved my phone and broadband to Sky which was even cheaper. And quicker.0 -
Thanks Ian, for info and spell check
