I'm not really sure what you're after, because hitachi isn't exactly a brand to write home about. Are you !!!!ed off that your TV's spec has devalued over time? Because that's how tech works. It gets better, the improvements flow down the range, until your amazing gadget from 12 years ago is now laughed at by most calculators.
They used to be. I bought a Hitachi TV about that time, it was a belter. I happened to know the guy who reviewed the TVs for a pretty well known electronics magazine and he said with my budget the best product was the Hitachi 32PD5200.
2 grand on a telly! Oh to be young and stupid with money! :rotfl:0 -

The suggested replacement only has 2 x 10W speakers, which IMO is more than enough to ask for one that matches spec for spec, in which case you can reasonably ask to match spec for spec (unlikely as most TV's go to 20 max) or ask for the voucher to be amended to include a additional soundbar, as the reason you brought the TV was the superior sound to the other models though the placement and power. That would be enough of a reason for me to change the voucher amount.
Though of course, wattage doesn't imply quality, just loudness.0 -

Its only stupid if you cant afford it or spend money on something you'll never use. For instance, if I was only earning £200 a week, 2k would be a lot of money. But if you're earning 1k a week, 2k is nothing (especially since the cost of living here is just a fraction of what it would cost even in edin/glasgow).
Not sure where your "young and stupid with money" part came from though. Is it only young people who spend 2k on a tv/are stupid with money? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

And if you double the output from say 10 watts to 20 watts the only difference is circa 3db.
Also different manufacturers [STRIKE]manipulate[/STRIKE] use different ways of measuring the output eg RMS or Peak Power etc which are completely different0 -

I was talking about me! I was certainly not in a position to spend that sort of money on a TV.
Nothing to do with me what anyone else chooses to spend their money on!0 -
Resolved upgraded me to a 50 inch happy enough as it compensates for the 2 features now not possible. Just to confirm the speakers were attched to the side of the old Tv not seperates.0
