The existing finish is reproduction mahogany veneered furniture. Te ones which have the ingrained decorative line about an inch from the edge of tops of furniture.
That's the construction, not the finish. Is it sealed, varnished, wax polished, French polished? You will have to treat or remove the existing finish first, so you need to know what it is in order to deal with it.No free lunch, and no free laptop
