Hope you get a better night's sleep soon. I feel your pain!

Good luck with the savings. Could you compromise with your OH and get one of the kitchen/bathroom done, and then do the other once you've paid down the mortgage a little more?

    Hi jwil. How are you?
    Thank you.
Getting either kitchen or bathroom done and paying down mortgage before getting the other one done sounds like a great idea.
I think bathroom should be done first -however it will need re-tiling and I've never tiled before and OH is really busy. He could probably do it, but he's a perfectionist and it would be long and drawn out. But it would be cheaper than paying someone else to do it....
Will have a think-research cheapest options for what we want...

Not much to update, but thought I'd post.
    Busy week this week-appointments etc.
Still need to list stuff on eb@y and sort some more stuff out for c@sh4clothes.
I'm itching to start decorating-well at least painting anyway. Just trying to think of the right shade. I fancy an off white but with a hint of something, though I'm not sure what as yet...
Right enough waffling. Off to drink my coffee.

Dinner tonight was a kind of stir fry of chicken, yellow pepper, asparagus, onions and mushrooms with a sweet jacket potato. Drizzled with homey and mustard mayo/sauce-it was yummy! Must learn to make my own honey and mustard sauce, it can't be that hard...I hope.

Paid £20 off mortgage last night.
Paid £67 worth of change into an account today ...and drew £30 out. :(
I also drew £40 out of the same account the day before yesterday and spent nearly £60 for food shopping out of it yesterday. :(
Need to pay more in when I've checked my funds in other accounts as this particular account is actually to try and save as much as possible-for a rainy day.
Just trying to get used to money going in my accounts at a different time of the month to what I'm used to.
So my century saver is much depleted-but I do still have about £16 in there and will add to it when I've sorted out my change in my purse.
Santander offered me a 123 account today but I was in a hurry and didn't have time to go through the pros and cons.
Does anyone get value for money with that account pls? I haven't checked yet. If I remember correctly you need £500 going into it every month and at least 2 direct debits. I know there is a charge for this account but I don't know how much and if you get more back with paying utilities, sky etc out of it... With have a think and do so e research.
Right, off to drink my glass of water and check my change to save.

Still not got anything listed and no clothes sorted for c@sh4clothes. :(
Cleaned and tidied lounge this morning. mr tc swept and I mopped-all done now! :)
Did go for a long walk today with Mr tc and DSS. Blew the cobwebs away-literally. Just managed to get into cafe before heavens opened. :)
Back to painting now. Busy busy.
Slept better last night due to sheer exhaustion from painting! Was very late to bed-early hours and up at 8!
    No financials to report.
Still in 2 minds about work...if I stay I can concentrate on saving to get kitchen and bathroom done and or mortgage over paid, but I do hate it-managers unsupportive etc etc.
On the other hand if I leave I will feel better not being in that job, but it is a job and the pension and other perks are good... And I'm lucky to have a job in the current climate...decisions decisions!

Any pointers welcome to get into mystery shopping and more surveys etc-need to make some money.
If anyone has any idea on a ball park figure that can be earned over an average month doing mystery shopping and surveys-it would be very helpful.
No idea where to start...off to check forums.

    Paid £10 off the mortgage
    Moved £6.73 to savings.
I really need to be able to overpay mortgage by about £500 a month in order to be on target for my challenge. :( only managed about a 10th of that this month. :(
Hoping to sort out certain bills to come out of business account shortly-that will free up another £50 a month. Then I just have to create/make an extra £400 a month to overpay.
When I get rid of catalogue bill I should free up more money to throw at the mortgage...need to do some sums...

  • Morning TattyCath, I think GallyGirl does Mystery Shoppng, so maybe post on her diary asking for advice?

We do P!necone, Shop and Sc@n (weekly scans of food shopping and uploading of receipt), Consumer P£lse (on line entering of items purchased, eg clothing, games etc. Plus 1Poll (both have accounts). Mr T also does Valued @pinions. Finally Royal M@il posting surveys and paid in stamps.

I have a feeling I've forgotten something but can't remember what

Ammonite isn't posting at the moment but she was great for eb@y advice. Finally magazine subs with a free gift, where the gift can be sold seem popular.

Only their thing to add I guess is food waste. If you are chucking any food out, then you may be over buying, not menu planning etc, so that could save some £ possibly?

    Good luck, Tilly x x
