    Hi ladies.

Quick question - does any one know much about maca (root powder) or used it? Have seen some conflicting things about it in relation to fertility and wondering if its something I should try.
I have gotten to the point where I'm willing to try anything to get my body to work properly.

I've used it and so did someone else on here (maybe rumfeeble). She got pregnant the first or second month of using it. I think it's worth a shot. I didn't feel any worse on it and it didn't adversely effect my cycle.

Well who knows what this cycle holds after my 79 days last time! Still temping (when I can) & had a spike yesterday though nothing picked up on opk's :(

Trying to wrangle hubby into bd'ing every other day in the hope that I am ovulating at some point - I'm getting so upset at the prospect I might not get my BFP. Got my blood tests next week to see if I am actually ovulating - does anyone know what happens if they think you're not? One of the blood tests is for progesterone (which is why is has to be on CD21) - but I don't know what the others are for - any idea's please?

    C xx

it seems to be different depending on what area you're in. They'll do day 21 progesterone (which should be 7dpo rather than day 21), then when mine showed low progesterone they did cd2 bloods to test hormone levels and I needed a swab to check for STIs. They'll also require sperm samples from your OH. We've been referred to the fertility unit - got a questionnaire through today to send back before we get an appointment.

Thanks - yes, sorry I did mean 7dpo, but 7 days before my next period is anyone's guess given my ever increasing length of cycles so I was told to do it on cd21 :o
I hope they do test DH in our area - he has type II diabetes & I was wondering this morning whether it might affect it. I can't remember if he was diagnosed before or during my last pregnancy.
    Thanks for your reply xx

Mrs tm loving the space for lots of food goodies, we really short of space and the kitten is way to interested in everything.are you veggie?im really struggling to find healthy veggie stuff that dh will eat and help his swimmers.hes non veggie.

Sorry, just saw this! I'm not a veggie, but some of our dishes are to help save a bit of money. I use our slow cookers loads, and DH adores the vegetarian slow cooker curry I do (and the onion bahjis, naan bread, and pilau rice as well!). That's about the only completely veggie meal he loves. One that he will eat and be ok with is cornbread, pinto beans (usually cooked with a pork bone, but not an absolute), and fried okra.

I make my own stocks and broths as well. Any time we have chicken, the bones and leftover bits go into the freezer until we have enough, then they get dumped into the slow cooker to go overnight with enough water to cover them. I can typically get two batches of broth from one slow cooker full. I also save any decent veggie peelings (potato, onion, pepper, courgette, some carrot - what the bunnies don't get, etc) to make wonderful vegetable broth. I just keep it in the freezer until I get a zip top bag full, then into the slow cooker it goes with water. No two batches ever taste quite the same, but they've all been wonderful!

Found lots of blackberries today (only picked about 1/4 of a carrier bag full because we were due to go pick apples) and made sweetened blackberry juice for using like squash out of that. It wasn't enough for jam, so I didn't bother with that bit. I'll go back later on in the week and pick a bucketful for making jam with. ;)

We ended up picking a carry on suitcase full, two backpacks full, and one carrier bag full of Bramley apples today! Don't think we will be running out of apples any time soon.

Mrs T-M - you completely put me to shame. I love to hear stories of your cooking and food preparation though! Sounds so healthy as well.

Still waiting for a positive on ov test (had to order some more). Need to read back as I think I may have ovulated CD20ish last month and then had a really short luteal phase. Am def getting ewcm. Given DH 2 nights off as nothing seems to be happening!! x

Part-mouse - have a look at a website called a Girl Called Jack - she does lots of penny pinching vegetarian healthy food :) Maybe just add some salmon trimmings or cubed chicken into your hubby's? xx

Skint Catt thanks I've had a look and used a a fair few of her receipts such a useful site.

Mrs tm what a great haul you got, think my dh would go mad if we had any more food in. It's our 1 st wedding anniversary tommorow and off to bake him a cake. Have to say I'm feeling pretty awful on the injections and sleep all afternoon.

I don't mean to put anyone to shame! :o

I just figure that since I'm not working, I should do everything I can to keep costs down in any way possible. Thus the foraging, budget, and hunting markdowns. With that being said, my job(s) today are to go through all of the apples and process all of the ones with slight blemishes or bruises from hitting the ground yesterday, and if at all possible, I need to make the 3 mile round trip to Sainsburys and Morrisons. Might have some coffee and head on down there while I'm feeling up to going! I slept for 14 hours last night, minus the 4-5 times I needed the loo! Being sick really does wipe me out, even if it is 'just a cold.'
