i thought i had pretty good vision, but some captcha's are just so awkward to read... i have to expand the window, or refresh for an ' easier' one..
Are promoters delibarately doing this, to deter non demographic target entries..?

I wouldn't have thought so. Sometimes, if I cannot make them out, I just refresh the page maybe six times, until I get an easy one.0

lmao - you do make me laugh with some of your 'conspiracy theories' Brightonman,.Thank you all who post.0

Doubt it, I'm 20 and I can't make out what half of them are meant to say!0

I complained to ITV about theirs. First response was that I could listen to it......either I have a hearing problem or that is even worse that the captcha.
I asked them if they had ever listened to the audio verson.....it seemed to go a bit easier for a while but it didn't last.
I was thinking of asking if they were breaching the disability discrimination act.0 -
No because the promoters do not set them.0
-
Maybe not but they could change to a more user friendly one0

The captcha codes are set randomly by a computer program. I am sure I read that the images are from books that the British Library or similar from old books that text is difficult to work out and the text as been scanned and the most popular answers to what the text actually says is what they use for that word. (if that makes any sense)
Website designer are starting to use a new kind of code that is a sentence or phrase hand chosen by the programmer. So for instance it could say "I am wearing blue sock" A phrase that a bot wouldn't pick up on.0 -

It's always worth a go. I know they don't control the Captcha, but the other Captcha systems out there do the same job. The ones where you add two numbers are far easier.
I got the ITV terms and conditions changed when a car is the prize. It used to say the winner should be able to produce a driving licence. I told them they were excluding people who can't drive for medical reasons so they've changed it to say the winner can have the car put in someone else's name.
I subscribe to the theory that if you don't ask, you don't get0 -
Someone posted on here a wee while back that if you screw up your eyes to read them it makes them clearer. I tried it and it does make them easier to read, so any tricky ones I screw my eyes up for nowMassive thanks to all who contribute on the MSE forums, especially on grabbit and competition boards0
