Virgin wifi

I had a problem with the virgin modem a while back so they gave me a new super hub, but the wifi with it is rubbish. We've been on the phone to them several times and they always say, thats sorted it, it'll be fine in a couple of days, but it never is. I'm wondering if I can go back to a normal old router and modem, I'd have to buy one, but would it work with the new superfast speeds which are great on my desktop?

You need to set the Super Hub to Modem only mode through the admin panel (info on access on back of superhub) and then you can buy your own router which you plug into Port 1 on the back of the super hub, you can then run your own wifi setup.
I have the TP Link 1043 router from Amazon, it offers me triple the range over the superhub with much fast speeds, if you have a big house you can add additional access points to improve reception too.

The Superhub is fine as it goes, but a lot depends on your local environment. Your selection of a channel to use is vital and you should get some free scanning s/w to check how many users are using which channels, and select one with less use or interference.0

Thanks Buzby, I've tried all those things, both from looking on thier website and when we've phoned up and they've talked us through them, but it hasn't made any difference, which is why I'm thinking about an extra router, so thanks visidigi, I'll look into it a bit more.
We should be getting the bt super fast broadband here soon, so I might well switch to that and see how we get on.0
