I agree with seaweasel about IE7 being the least standards compliant, and I would love to use Opera on a point of principle because it passes the acid2 test, but at the moment practicality is more important for me which is why I currently use the most compatible browser rather than the most compliant. Just to iterate it was a concious decision on my part rather than choosing out of ignorance. I'll probably turn on to opera sometime in the future (I've had it installed on my machine for at least a couple of years now along with firefox)."She is quite the oddball. Normal but not Opera's fault. It's the web designer's fault for sloppy coding. As I said it's compatibility versus compliance. Opera isn't as compatible because it sticks to the international HTML/XHTML standards whereas many website designers do not. They'll tend to only test in IE and use proprietary IE codes. So really it is the website that isn't HTML compliant that leads to it being incompatible with Opera. I would use Opera on principle but because of necessity I use the more widely compatible browser."She is quite the oddball. See how compliant a particular webpage is:

That's not the case in general, I've never experienced it. If you're having a specific problem like that then ask for advice on how to fix it rather than saying it's a problem for every user.
i did ask on another forum and quite a few members were having the same problem (not all though)
so i dumped it.No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -

Yep, Have to agree with you on this, Its one of the main reasons i stick with Firefox which is abit more resource hungry but works on most sites.0 -

Sorry to hijack the thread but as there are some knowledgable people on here....I did an upgrade to IE7, but got a problem. Everytime I opened the browser it would come up with an 'about:blank' hog screen even after setting my homepage as Google. Anyway due to this I downgraded back to IE 6, but now it won't remember web passwords, such as MSE, and also it won't do any autocomplete of addresses or previous searches. Everytime I use it it's like I have never used it before. It won't even keep anything in the history on the same day. Have I corrupted something by uninstalling IE7?
Just a thought could I use sysyem restore to a previous date before I tried to do the update would that restore settings or is the corrupted file beyound repair?"...IT'S FRUITY!"0 -
did you by any chance set a homepage after installation of ie7 in other words go to the page you want to set as your homepage then tools, internet options and then use current and if you want a homepage set for a tab instead of a blank when in internet options click on settings where it says tabs and tick open homepage for new tabs instead of balnk page i reckon that may sort it0
