Cripling insurance

That's interesting, I did that a LOT and was with them for 3 years. Left them end of last year. It was never what is apparently expensive (I'm 21 now and the most it was was £750) but I wonder if it would have been cheaper had I not messed around?Be careful, EUI (Diamond, Admiral etc) are quite hot on 'quote massaging' which is making lots of changes to the quote before finally buying one, they don't know what details are real and often flag/cancel the policy.0 -
post #9 When you're older you could start your own policy, age will help to bring down the quotes a little
WRONG. I did that. while in theory it sounds correct i can say for fact it doesnt work. I was on my dads insurance until he died, and then the insurance company changed it over to my mum even though she couldnt drive with me as main driver. it kept the price low, anyway after 3 years of not having car insurance due to not owning a car, we lost all the NCD, so decided at 28 to take out my own insurance.
at age 18 was quoted £650 3rd party fire theft as a learner
at age 21 was quoted £651 as above as someone passed test.
drove as main driver on dads insurance of £140
at age 28 was quoted £550, now i'm 38 and my renewal quote last year was £460. cheapest i've ever had was £273 year2010, but for some reason the following year it went up 93% to £528 <2011 when the tv said insurance prices have risen by 33%, so i switch insurers.
dreading to think what its going to be this year. I got an idea its going to be higher this year again so i'm assuming around £600-800 instead of going down.
I'm unemployed, so cant really put down anything other than that.
i only do 1200miles a year, roughly, and i only buy cheapish cars, normally i dont spend more than £300 on them, but this one i currently got did only have 50,000 miles on the clock, 4 new tyres, and 11month MOT and tax for under £695. ford escort 1.6l 4 dr incase your wondering.0
