it turns out that if ur in the 7-12 month bracket it brings ur insurance down about 500 pound on diamond plus if ur employed it brings it down by 1000 pound0

If you cannot afford to run a car you may have to seek alternative employment.
I have a trade but jobs were thin on the ground, So i took my HGV test to open up more opportunities.
You just have to keep trying different cars, Until you find one you can afford to buy and insure.
MPG isnt everything. Overall running costs vary a lot.
Is 60MPG good enough? How about a mondeo estate diesel?
I can get 60+ mpg from mine. But i would imagine insurance to be silly for you. But you never know.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Be careful, EUI (Diamond, Admiral etc) are quite hot on 'quote massaging' which is making lots of changes to the quote before finally buying one, they don't know what details are real and often flag/cancel the policy.0 -
Fiestas tend to be quite high insurance, popular with young drivers and boy racers, you need to find the dullest/most boring car possible, with absolutely no street cred, possibly something like a Nissan primera or Volvo s40, although quite large cars they can be surprisingly cheap.
Also try adding an older person as a named driver, adding a parent who will occasionally drive could knock a 1/3 off the premium.I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Thats why I always use a neighbiyrs details, a number plate from autotraders and a fake name to jiggle quotes around.
And OP, unemployed will come out as higher as they're less likely to have spare cash to spend on care safety essentials, eg tyres and brakes.0 -

True. It happened to me when I was trying to find out how much extra various planned modifications were going to cost me.
All of a sudden the quote quadrupled even for a standard car. I went elsewhere.0 -
Is there any way you can be added to one of your parent's policy's?
I know you won't build up any no claims bonus this way but if you can't afford your own policy and need to drive your options are quite limited.
When you're older you could start your own policy, age will help to bring down the quotes a little0 -
