We are FTBs on 5x joint incomes. But we are on fixed rate, can afford the repayments, and will be in a better position to remortgage in 2 years time.
The rent on a 2 bed flat is more than we're paying on the mortgage.
Luckily we don't want children either.....0 -
My partner(20) and i (19) bought a 2 bed flat November 2006.
We had a 100% mortgage and it was 3.85 x our joint income.
our mortgage is the same as renting in the area.
We are fixed for 5 years, so if something does happen it should happen within the next 5 years, if not we will just remortgage in 5 years time.
We are happy that we can afford it and that we could afford higher interest rates, aslong as you are sensible with your figures and are confident in what you are doing then go for it.0 -

I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

Bobproperty, I don't get your point?
That comment was directed at someone else, and we've since sorted it out. I don't see what other forums either you or I frequent has to do with it?
Are you saying that if something bothers me, I shouldn't mention it because there are worse things happening elsewhere?0 -
