Anyone know the affect this law will have on people with Blue Badges (BB)?

I've tried researching it but to no avail :(

This issue doesn't affect me personally, but I know it might others.

    This may help!

    Here

Otherwise all I know is that when PIP is introduced you will need at least the Standard Rate (8 points) of the Mobility Component to automatically qualify for a Blue Badge.

    Hi thanks for that,

Though it still doesn't make much sense to me.

Will the changes mean that there may be cases where people on LRM on DLA don't qualify for BB but those on the Standard Rate of Mobility - PIP do?

I'm all for people getting any extra help they can, but I don't think councils will react to this well, if it means them giving more BBs away but of-course with the DLA cuts there may not be as many people to give them too

I suppose so. If when you're reassesed for PIP you get either the Standard Rate Mobility or the Enhanced Rate Mobility then you get the BB automatically.

Don't forget the tories have introduced PIP to throw 20% of disabled people off DLA!!

It means those that need a Disabled badge wont get one, those that do should not really be driving if they are in such a state.
many people with illnesses that effected mobility do not need someone to wipe their backside for them, yet they may not be able to walk distances without discomfort.
The linking of Blue Badges with DLA, a benefit for people who need help living was an act that only stupid MP's could have come up with.

If they're in "such a state" they'll more than likely have a driver.

The blue badge is linked to only the mobility element of DLA, not the care element.

    - at the moment, automatic qualification for a Blue Badge is HRMDLA
    - PIP splits the mobility element into standard and enhanced
    - 8 points or more in the ‘Moving Around’ activity becomes the new PIP automatic eligibility qualification for a Blue Badge
Will the changes mean that there may be cases where people on LRM on DLA don't qualify for BB?

    - people on LRMDLA do not get automatic qualification under the old DLA rules
Will those on standard PIP get automatic qualification?

    - no - 8 points or more in the ‘Moving Around’ activity becomes the new PIP automatic eligibility qualification for a Blue Badge

time2save, are you confusing the (1) subject to further assessment group with the (2) automatic qualification without further assessment group

Richie, I think you are mistaken. I will go away and see if I can find anything to clarify this.
