Beach holiday for 1 person

Does anyone have any experiance of booking a holiday abroad for 1 person?

I've looked at the usual holiday websites (travel supermarket, teletext holidays, etc) and have found some good deals for June (when i want to go) for 7 nights for around £300-400pp that are 3-4 star in Spain/Greece/Turkey etc.

But, I don't know if they accept a booking for just 1 person? or if there's a single person suppliment I could pay. I pick '1 adult' on the serch setting and it lets me get all the way upto actually ordering without mentioning anything about a suppliment or if i'd have to pay for 2?

I've looked on a couple of specialist websites that offer holidays for singles, but I can't find anything less than £800 on these sites!

You need to ignore the package holiday companies as they design their holidays for couple and families. For a single person it's far cheaper and easier to book things yourself.

If I ever need a few days sunshine, I just book the cheapest flight I can find to Malaga - loads of options depending on your local airport -- then find a hotel along the coast. There is a train which runs from the city to the airport and along the coast through the resorts so you don't need to deal with car hire or transfers.

It's also worth checking out the likes of Expedia and AlphaRooms who do flight + hotel deals

Any hotel recommendations for single travellers - where have you felt most comfortable?

One of my favourites on the Costa del Sol is Las Rampas in Fuengirola. It's fairly basic (but you only need somewhere to sleep, right?) but good value and it's only a short walk from the beach and loads of bars and restaurants

However, that's just one suggestion. I've had great solo beach holidays elsewhere in Spain (Alicante is nice, if a little more expensive) as well as in Portugal. I'm sure others will be along soon to offer recommendations on Greece, Turkey and other places but the advantage of the Costa Del Sol is that there are always loads of cheap flights and hotels to choose from.
