I thought maybe 'Hot Shots'?
I remember watching it as a kid and the voiceover guy saying 'get ready for the longest end credits ever made'. Obviously back before the worst of the cuts, but it had a lot of videos interpersed in the credits too.0 -
from Wikipedia:-
- Superman also had a very long closing credits sequence. It took nearly eight minutes to end
- Clerks 2 European version has a reduced end credit sequence, in the USA the friends list was shown. This was long but I am unable to determine how long
- LOTR:-Funtrivia says this:- A little research shows that the current record is held by "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" at 9 minutes and 33 seconds. So no cigar on that one either
- Funtrivia also has this to say:- On an older film - "Hot Shots" - towards the end of the credits is a statement that's probably true: "If you had left the theater when the credits started you'd be home now." This is after about 10 minutes of rolling credits.
I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -

I see you edited the post after your original post backed me up! The Lord of the Rings I referred to was the extended version which as you originially posted had closing credits of around 20 minutes.
There are several versions of Superman and the extended version has credits longer than 10 minutes.
Your last statement seems a bit bizarre as anyone who has watched a film on TV (not Sky) knows that the closing credits are either cut or sped through in seconds. The last time superman was on (even the standard edition) I don't believe they had 8 minutes of closing credits on TV (even with a voice over)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I edited the post as I had pasted in a table from from one of the source websites and frankly it loooked a mess so I re-edited the thing.
Apologies but I cannot remember if I originally agreed or not about Superman, it seems darned difficult to find out how long credits are on films, short of setting a timer at the end of a DVD and frankly I have got a life
a dratted poor one I admit but it is my life nonetheless - Whatever!
Anyway, I am one of the sad sacks who stays seated at the end of a film at cinemas as I like to watch the credits. I call this "an interest in film", someone else close to me disagrees....
The point being, that the compression/speeding up of film credits on TV ticks me off, particularly if I wanted to know who played the 3rd gnome to the left in the party scene etc

Yes I always leave when the credits come up.
I do find it very annoying when they have a post credit scene (e.g. Xmen last stand). I always miss them! In fact most marvel films do an end of credit scene which is sometimes quite key! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I do the same.
What's annoying is that when you want to find something out - typically the name or performer of a piece of music in the film, it's usually right at the end. After the accountants of the caterers of the second unit.
Thank heavens for the internet and IMDB which makes the credits all but superfluous. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
SpammyTheSpammer wrote: »But frankly I am unsure if any of this matters as the credits are contractually a part of the film. This is why the channels like to compress the credits over to one side of the screen and use voiceover
You've reminded me of something Charlie Brooker did with screenwipe I think, or newswipe, where he got cross that BBC kept shrinking his credits to advertise other stuff, so started doing very conspicious actions during the credits roll to distract from whatever BBC was promoting during his time.0
