I think they're wrong. There's a pretty solid process for these things via PC World customer services. I can't see something as simple as a fan failure needing legal action.

Maybe they just wanted you to spend a bit more money with them.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

I think not, they don't want us to spend money with them as there's nothing in it for them to give this advice.

Ah, I thought they were aiming to get you to pay them to fix it. But they're still wrong.

Can you imagine if it actually went down to the court what the judge would say.

"You decided not to follow the SoGA and start legal proceedings because a company which doesn't specialise in law and have no relation to this case told you, you were better seeking immediate legal address instead of allowing the retailer to sort it out?"

I bet many laughs would be had by him after he threw the case out.

Thanks for your advice here. I managed to persuade mum to agree and have emailed the guy asking for a full report (which I know is for free for me)

Sorry but you're more likely to get help on here if you start a new thread.
