Shop online for a dress after speaking to a dressmaker who could alter it to fit.
If children are attending the ceremony make up little fun bags with colouring materials in them, print pics online, so they are kept amused during the service.
    cheers

  • Hi everyone

    Thanks for all the responses.

The wedding and reception will both be at "La Mon House"

To Danih - You are on the big countdown now, please keep us posted on how things go and very best wishes for the big day in 74 days time.

I am now having to deal with older relatives who are saying a few unkind things about my daughter and her partner because they are both 'large'.

I am ignoring the comments and putting it down to jealousy as my daughter is the first granchild to get married, but it can take away the sparkle of planning the day.
  • Ignore comments there are so many rude people out there. No one should ever say anything about anyone else's family as they never know what may happen to their own offspring.

Cough Potato is right, ignore them and, if possible, don't invite them! I hope that she has a lovely time planning and especially dress shopping :)

A word of advice no matter what you order etc be sure the company has a good reputation. Ask do they have any contacts in Hotels that you may call for a reference?

Also before confirming anything ask for a landline as some of the companies out there with mobile numbers only are fly in the night. If I am ordering anything I always google number to see if they are listed. Some of the horror stories I have heard are unbelievable.

And only pay by credit card or certain debit cards so that you have protection if they go belly up and you don't get the goods or services you were expecting.

  • Only invite those that will make your daughter's day more enjoyable. She does not want to hear snide comments about her on the most special day of her life :) Relations will talk about her anyway so only invite those that really matter to her special day.
