Hi there
My daughter is getting married in Oct 2014, so we are looking at all things weddingy from now on.
Venue and registrar are booked, but would love ideas on where to pick up bargains for dresses, cake, flowers, stationary etc.
My daughter is PLUS size so advice on where to go without staff making her uncomfortable would be great.
Thanks in advance for any tips and advice given

Its a pity you live in NI, we have a fabulous shop locally to us which is called Curvy Bridal, they sell dresses at sized 8 right up to 36.
Have you googled say 'plus size brides' may be worth a try.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Stationery - Subscribe to Vistaprint and you will get email offers for various bits and pieces - e.g. 100 free postcards - we used these for our RSVP's - you will only pay for P&P. Quality was great and we were able to choose from lots of different designs. We had to order in batches of 100 though, as you only get 100 free at a time - this is not a bother though. We ordered the envelopes to go along with them as well and only paid aprox £10 for 200, which is really cheap! We also ordered various bits and pieces all free of course with just P&P being paid for from Vistaprint - highly recommend - just make sure you order in time as the cheapest P&P i think is 2-4 weeks?? Not sure on the time scale as it was nearly a year ago
I got my wedding invitation stationery from Ebay - the cards etc were all pre-cut for us, so all we had to do was print and prit stick onto the envelope design we went for. Ebay was also great for lots of other stuff, clear address labels, beads for wedding tables, ribbon etc. I would definitely check ebay before stores as paper etc can be expensive
We went to lots of wedding fayres - you can pick up lots of deals at these and don't be afraid to haggle that little bit more than the prices they siuggest - always worth it:)
Wedding dress, depends on where you are based. Good luck with everything and best wishes to your daughter - best day of her life:)

Not sure what area you are in but I've heard Perfect Day in Lurgan have a very good selection of dresses. Give them a ring, they are not far from the motorway so pretty handy if you are travelling. 028 38 321607
Always great reports from friends and colleagues that have bought there.0 -

Try Naomi Bridal in Ballynahinch (They have another shop as well - think it is Ballyclare)
I found their sample stock were in a good selection of sizes and not just size 8, 10, & 12's like a few of the shops I tried had.
Its difficult to imagine how a dress will look if it won't go on, if its too big, you can pull it in and tuck it here and there so you have a better idea of how well it will look the right size!
I got my dress in Naomi - and they were an absolute pleasure to deal with!Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -

That's a shame! As I said it wasn't my own experience but that of colleagues and friends. The ladies I know had no problems, hopefully they have improved their customer service since your experience.0 -
would suggest vista print also for stationary - total bargain.
I have heard terrible things about remarkable flower also and how they let people down. I used Carmel flowers on Cregagh Road and the lady there was lovely and worked to my budget.
We used a guy in castle dawson for cars - not sure of the name.
If you are interested in a DJ I have the mobile number for one which is £250 - don't want to put number online without his consent“A house is made of walls and beams;a home is built with love and dreams.”2012 Challenge to buy most gifts and non essentials from money made online.:money:0 -

I would avoid Perfect Day too. I've heard lots and lots of horror stories about them.
The SA was so nasty to my friend when she was dress shopping, making snide remarks about her weight when she was the size of a house herself  This was 3 months ago btw.
Absolutely awful.
Cake: try M&S, their plain iced wedding cakes are gorgeous and usually on 3for2 a few times a year. Way cheaper than the cake shops! Or could someone make the cake for them?
Stationery - easily done yourself or through Vistaprint (v. cheap).
Flowers - think about what you really need (does everyone in the wedding party need a buttonhole/corsage, can you do alternative table centres etc), try to choose seasonal flowers to keep costs down.
BM dresses etc - check out Coast etc, especially in the sales.
Browse eBay, charity shops, Gumtree etc for pretty decor bits!
Get crafty and call in favours - can anyone play an instrument, sing, make stuff, has anyone got a fancy car that you could use?
Haggle like mad!!!!!! With everything!
