Well, the xvid file I had has now been converted to DVD format, it took 1hour 28mins 50secs in total.

Unfortunately I have no blank DVD's to write to here at work so will get it burn't and check quality tomorrow.

    hi raptorman

    There are Linux packages too.
The one I use is tovid.
This is the link :- http://http://tovid.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

From the command line you can type:-
tovid -pal -dvd -in VIDEO -out movie

Where the input VIDEO (without any suffix) is your Xvid file that you've renamed.

The resulting output is a file movie.mpg which is DVD compliant MPEG2 and is PAL system for UK (not NTSC for USA).

It still takes hours to convert a full-length movie, but that depends on your CPU speed.

Then you use two other commands, makexml and makedvd.
To make the xml file you type:-
    makexml -dvd movie.mpg -out MyDisc
Then to author the DVD file structure from the xml file type:-
    makedvd -author MyDisc.xml
This leaves you with a ready to burn folder called MyDisc containing the Audio_TS and Video_TS folders.

What sort of file did you end up with?
    Is it an iso file?

    Ok, thanks.
I expect that DVDflick will use those vob files to create a folder structure when it does the burn.
(If you put a store-bought movie DVD in your drive and explore it, you'll see what I mean).

Another one to try is DVDSanta

You can download it from here http://uk.share.geocities.com/wacko912/ its only 2 megs

The encoding time is usually around the lengh of the movie and has built in burner software

The interface is very simple - THERE ARE NO COMPILICATED SETTINGS

    Just remember to select PAL.

    Cheers
    G.
