.......All of the products that are used these days are thoroughly tested by manufacturers and if there is a problem, then the person affected can take action against the manufucturer. This is a domestic situation and not a business that this thread is discussing.
Yep, and the standard defence from a manufacturer will be that their goods are tested and safe and any problems are the result of wrongful application and the case then moves on to the training/experience/qualifications of the beauty technician/engineer who did the application.
As for domestic situation.......yep that would be the case for family & friends, once it moves into friends of friends particularly if money is changing hands then I'm not so sure.0 -
Next time your wife offers to give you a hairwash, some grecian 2000 to get rid of the grey bits, blow dry and haircut, make sure you do not give her any 'house keeping' money, just in case you go bald. You would not want to have a liability problem on your hands.

If they are charging (I'm not 100% sure the donation gets around it) then the contract is with the OP's friend. It would be the OP's friend that would get any law suit not the manufacturer, she could or her insurers could try and pass it up the chain but would be the OP's friend who gets the first lawsuit.
The products have disclaimers and recommendations to test on small area before use etc. There is also the potential for the product being miss used.
I've seen quite a few treatment risk and product liability claims from beauticians and hairdressers. Claims are not as rare as you think.0 -
You could say that anyone who helps a neighbour and receives a can of beer in return is involved in a business relationship with the neighbour.
The point here is that the ops friends in not intending to set up a business for which they are advertising their services. It is simply a young lady who provides a makeover to friends/family and takes a photograph. There is no contractural arrangement to pay £10 for this to be done. Separately they know that she is going on a trip and they are gifting her £10 towards her trip.
I see no issue here, as there are many kids who clean cars for pocket money and you would not expect them down at your brokers arranging a commercial liability policy. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
