If the sofa was 6/7 months old when bought it's still under warranty and thus has a higher value... as well as the mentioned repairs needed possibly being done free of charge.
Providing the warranty company allow the warranty to be transferred ofcIn my experience, very few manufacturers allow this.
However, a 6/7 month old sofa is obviously higher in value than a 3/4 year old one of the same.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

Here's my advice: You, my dear, are a DOORMAT. No offence, but you come across as a complete push-over, and this person clearly knows that and is trying to take advantage of you.
You must WRITE to this person who sold you the sofa:
"Dear <name>. On <date> I purchased your 6 month old sofa off you for £700. It was agreed that this would be in instalments of £X per month.
Since purchasing the sofa it has become faulty, and upon closer inspection, it is clear that the sofa has already been repaired. Please can you supply me with your proof of purchase within the next 14 days so I can take this up with the manufacturer. If you cannot do this, then there are two further options: either you collect the sofa and refund me all monies paid, or I use the balance to pay for the sofa to be repaired.
Kind Regards,
<you>

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Right.. I haven't signed back in since my last comment so sorry for the others I haven't seen, Will go back and read them now but I sent her a cheque for £40 she has returned it ripped up and said she has started court preceding against me?!0

I think its a small claims court she is trying for.0

'I am so frustrated at how nasty she is being, she said 'as all communications have broke down and die to the fabrications of facts on my part and the liable comments made we are returning the destroyed cheque of £40 as it in insufficient in the amount and we have not agreed to extend the repayment agreement'
thing is nothing is liable on my part I have been nothing but honest, no payment plans were in writing, nor even discussed!! I don't get what she would achieve through going through courts.. just to put me under undue stress
her exact words about the payment plan were 'we can see we have more money then you so completely understand if you can't pay it all at once' .......0 -
Just ignore her and let her take you to court.
and is she holding you 'liable' or now accusing you of libelling her?
Anyway, ignore. You sent a cheque; she sent it back. Her loss.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
