Honda Civic 2005 Reg - Can stereo be replaced?

You don't need to spend £1000s to keep steering wheel controls, my corsa was only 30quid for other adaptor.

Still, the point is its either already fitted OR can be added.
If you want to spend upwards of £1000 then you can go somewhere like Cartronics ... when you leave the new head unit will be connected to the bass and the steering wheel.
If this is worth it to you in a 06 Accord then you really need professional advice from a specialist (like Cartronics) as you need a lot of specialist looms and wiring to keep the steering wheel controls....
If you want to spend less you can replace the head unit BUT lose the steering wheel controls but gain an aux-plug in the head unit itself and possibly better stereo. If you do this then you can get DAB as well.
If you don't have one in the 06 (but I suspect you do and its hidden next to the cigar lighter in a small panel or in the glove box) then you can fit an aux into the glove box one of the blind spaces (where you stick optional buttons), in the centre arm console, glove box .. etc. etc...
You can also get a cheap BT that plugs into the aux .. etc.
If you want to change AND make sure it works with the steering wheel make sure you get someone knows what they are doing.. without looking at a wiring diagram I suspect the drivers airbag circuit also passes close to the wiring for the stereo to steering wheel! Should this blow you're in for an expensive time.
I am looking to buy Honda Civic 05 Regnot the Accord.
I was just saying the Honda Civic 06 Reg will most probably have an aux hole because it is a new version from the one im looking at.
I'm just going to replace the original stearo and install a new one, with a aux hole to play music from my iPod.0 -

No point using the aux when you can get a stereo with direct iPod control from £60 onwards:

and if it has built in controls on the steering you will no longer be able to use them.
There is a good chance the 05 or 06 has either the aux hidden away OR the leads are already in going to RCA (and when you pull out the stereo to stick in another you'll find them) and you just need a £2 RCA to 1/8th jack converter.0 -

I have a Civic 1.6 Auto Exec and as has already been stated by Walcott the 05 Civic does not have steering controls and neither does it have leads already fitted.0 -
The cd/aux button is for the cd changer if that was fitted. So on first press it goes to the cd in the actual stereo and on second press it goes to the cd changer.
There may be kits available to convert the cd changer input but I never bothered to look into this as stereos that give you USB plus iPod control start from £60 and even cheaper for just the USB versions and sound much better. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
