If banks were able to recall transactions willy-nilly there'd be chaos, you wouldn't be able to touch income until the recall period is over. It sounds another step towards people abdicating any responsibilities for their own actions.0

Can I just say to everyone here, that I did get ALL my money back.
Made a successful claim through the Financial Ombudsman.
So please everyone in similar positions don't give up

The Payments Council were right - the new code of conduct was introduced in May 2014 and most major banks have signed up to it. This simplifies the process of recovering misdirected payments and should assist those in OP's shoes in future without the need to get the ombudsman involved....Its looks like the industry maybe looking at things to possibly to protect the consumer. It may be a case of watch this space.
