HI
IT SUCH AS BAD TIME - BOILER IS BUSTED, WHERE CAN I GET ANOTHER CHEAP?
please reply asap - boiler was 12 years old and home-sever have quoted £900 just to repair it. got a large 3 bed house and family thinks a new one will be best (as it will be comfort to know its not gonna do this to us again any time soon).
personally i could live without the boiler, money is tight but with a family its impossible (for them).

AN INDEPENDENT REGISTERED GAS INSTALLER!!!!
What's wrong with it? Do you have backup hot water and heating?:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Boilers that are perfectly repairable are often described as 'bust' by the likes of HomeServe and Homecare. So tell us the make and model, and what is reputedly wrong with it. And get a second opinion from an independent local GSR RGI who knows your brand.
12 years old does not mean a boiler is past it (unless it's a Ferroli perhaps). No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

no we have no back up heating or hot water - im not sure whats wrong, was told it was busted but fixable for £900 through home-sever.
it is a gas bolier
thank for your reply0 -
ill find out the make and model and problem
thanks so much0 -
fit a cheap boiler & you will be back on here in a year with the same questionI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Even with a 12 year old boiler the problem will probably be with the Printed Circuit Board which controls the function of the boiler.
It could be a quick fix, of a gas registered fitter replacing the PCB.....parts plus labour.
However being a12 year old boiler the fitter will probably suggest replacing it with an energy efficient combi boiler (condensing) ...probably around 800/900 to install...but supposed to be cheaper to run.0 -

I'm curious as to how you reached these conclusions. The OP needs a second opinion from someone who has seen the boiler.0 -

there is nothing in the OP's post that even remotly suggests it's the pcb, in fact without any details we have no idea what the prob isI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

Op surely you have a kettle for hot water
Get some fan heaters or something
Get a gas man round find out the real fault0 -
So, despite the 'urgent, please reply ASAP,' message in the first post, and presumably no heating or hot water all weekend, the OP has not been able to confirm the make and model yet...No free lunch, and no free laptop0
