Virgin, trying to cancel
Hi, I have an ongoing complaint with Virgin and frankly because of their attitude and complete misreading of my complaint I told them I wished to leave at the end of my contract in September and served notice. However I was told that I had to contact them within the last 30 days to do so.
Surely this can't be right? If I give them notice that I wish to end the contract in writing they have to take notice.
What do you think?

What the T&C say is: "Either you or we may cancel this Agreement at any time for any reason by giving the other one months written notice."
Surely "one month" is not the same as "at least one month". If you deem this unfair, complain to the ombudsman or sue them, but this is a different story, OOT.0 -
Thanks for that, You are of course right about my use of surely, I had read the contract but what the complaints officer said to me despite me giving notice of more than one month is that I would still have to contact them at the 30 day period or they would continue with the rolling contract. I suppose I may be being obstinate but as far as I see it if I send them written notice why should I then have to do it again. I suppose it is a matter of principle but I cannot see why I should have to do this.0

Because according to the T&C the notice can be 30 days only. You can send it now and demand cancellation in 1 month if you wish, but not in several months.0
