O/S Daily Friday 1st Feb 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

Morning all,

Pinch punch and all that :D

Tina hope you are ok love, and I loved the confessional that was yesterdays thread :rotfl:

Off to work for me this morning, need to drop dd at station first, she is off for dinner at the boyf's parents tonight , so just OH and I here for dinner.

I might even treat us to a takeaway curry, but dont tell OH in case I change my mind, its his absolute favourite takeaway treat.

More washing to do tonight, it will have to go on the airer as we have more rain due.

Its Friday everone _party_ been a hell of a long week.

Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Now getting light and still blustery but dry here this morning,

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was sausage, egg, beans and chips for the menfolk, I had omlette and salad. Hoping to buy some nice gammon steaks today and tonight we will have gammon, egg, mash, veg and onion sauce.

Was all set to get stuck into the flylady list and was going along quite nicely - then friend rang and asked if I could help her out as her car was at the garage and she needed help with moving her car and her DH's as both were at the garage and she was on her own - so went to help her get sorted and get one car taken back to her house until it can be looked at by the garage on Monday. She was in a bit of a state - so finished up getting her to come back to my house and giving her some lunch and a shoulder - again her life seems to be in free-fall some of which she has brought on herself but some she has not. Her marriage seems to be at the end of the road but they are just going along with something that is making them both unhappy - her MIL is not well and my friend won't do anything at the moment because of that, but she thinks that when something happens to her MIL her husband is just going to up and move into his mum's bungalow on his own and she'll be left on her own with their son. I can see it from both points of view as they are both our friends but I don't judge and just will be here to support them both. She has been a good friend to me for over 20 years and if I can give her any support/help I will do.

Have all the normal chores to do - but am behind now as didn't get as much done yesterday as I hoped to, will go to town and bank this morning, then do food shopping then will get stuck in and get ironing and packing done - only going away for 1 night tomorrow morning so won't need to pack very much. Will just try to get as much done as poss, I have printed off Friday's flylady list and will try to get some done as well.

Have a great Friday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

Morning Redruby and all who follow. Wet here too so all washing on the airer. I'm thinking of buying one of those electric ones from La**land as the tumble dryer is so expensive. Read yesterdays thread and hugs to all, we all have things in our life best forgotten and no one on here is judgmental so hope everyone feels they can stay and unload. Made a momentous decision yesterday and gave in my notice at school, I retire in July when this academic year ends.:j Really lucky that I have a pension from teaching at 60. The job is so demanding and I have been feeling increasingly stressed and tired for a while. So I shall be on here to learn how to live a really frugal life. Hugs to all esp Julie 67 hope things get better soon. Have a good day all :)

Good morning to the daily confessional;)

Hope your all well. Miffy well done on your decision, you deserve a rest. Moorhen enjoy your meal.NMLC sounds like you were a good friend yesterday the cleaning will still be there.RR thanks for starting the thread, hope dd meal goes well.

Feeling a little less stressed today. All the paperwork was more or less completed yesterday. Just need to put cheques in for token payments.
It's the worry of the responses once they've gone out and the creditors realise they will be getting much reduced payments. But I am looking forward to having a proper monthly budget which pays all the secure bills and actually allows us to buy food, the worry of constantly robbing Peter to pay Paul has been so stressful so it can't be any worse than that.
I've managed to get past the dragon receptionist and get an appointment at the doctors this afternoon. My knee is causing real problems, I can't run and struggling to go out for a walk which I love. I've taken to sleeping with a pillow under it so dh has insisted I go to the docs which I hate.
Need to nip to Mr Ald! This afternoon. I am doing all our main shopping there and am finding it much cheaper. Just need to nip into one of the main supermarkets for Coffee for dh as he hates their stuff. But he does drink it black so I guess he can taste it.
Anyway enough waffle, best get on.
    Have a Good Friday all J x

    Morning All!

Wet at the moment here in Hastings. DGD is coming over lunchtime till tomorrow morning. She is going to help me make meatballs and linguine for dinner. Making the base for a steak and ale pie too for tomorrow. Got friends coming to dinner, so it's HM Leek and potato soup, pie, mash and veg and my friend is making dessert, Pavlova. Yum!:T

SIL's store opened yesterday, so we now have a new Dunhelm Mill and Pets at home store in Hastings.

I have been everybody's sounding board this week. Had a friend from Liverpool in hysterics. she's got no familty now and is quite disabled, and things came to a head for her. I was so worried I nearly called Social Services in Liverpool I thought she may do something nasty. Turned out okay in the end.
Yesterday my friend Helen was in tears because after trying everything for 30 years, her sister is going to lose her leg. So she was in a state. Then I got an email from another friend who is a carer for her mum, and she's having problems too! I don't mind them all, but it can be draining at times:rotfl:

Lost another 1lb on the AF eating plan. Lost 10lb in two weeks, and got a pair of trousers done up that I couldn't get over my thighs two weeks ago!:T
Julie, Judi, Jools hugs for you.

    Have a good day all.

  • Hi all
Very wet here. Got to kids to the car and realised before I even put the key in the ignition it wasn't going to start because the central locking didn't work. Not sure whether to jump start it and get it down to H***fords for a new battery or to call out RAC and buy one from them :(

I must say the kids were very accepting and walked to the bus stop and caught the bus to school (a bit naughty but didn't pay for my 6 yr old saving myself £3.20).

Finished beeswaxing Evan's new CS chair so he can use it tonight at dinner time.

Planning on finishing painting the kitchen,
Hope everyone has a happy, productive day x
I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:

Well if he's not working then cleaning the house can be his job can't it ;) might have him running back for a job quicker if he realises he can't loaf about ;) and sorry I agree, I think he's mad for walking out of a well paid job. Given the fact that so many are being made redundant or struggling to work you'd think he would count his blessings a bit more.
Sorry that sounds like a lecture, not meant to be but it's hitting a nerve as this morning a friend is struggling financially as her Hs work has dried up. she says her useless lump of a H wouldn't take a job for less than £9 an hour......well really can beggars be choosers these days? Surely some money is better than none?!

As you can tell I ain't in the best of moods :o shan't bore you with the details.
Usual housework here, having soup at my mums house for lunch to get me out of the four walls. Not sure what on planner for tea as haven't looked :o

Hugs and spoons all round xxx

    Tappers enjoy the silence :D

Hilly oh dear sounds like a lot of your friends are suffering with bad news :(

Julie hope your knee is better soon xxx
