Advice about Orange

Just wanted some advice for a friend who is currently an Orange PAYG customer.
She is a low usage customer and the Dolphin sim deal that is £7 per month with £80 cash via Quidco would be ideal for her. The problem is that she wants to keep her current number as she runs a little business and the number on her business cards is her current number. Orange state on their website that a PAYG customer has to telephone their customer services to change to a monthly sim, which means that she couldn't order a sim via Quidco to get the cashback. If she had been on another network there wouldn't have been a problem as she would have just requested her PAC code and given that to Orange for the new sim.
Has anyone bought the sim via Quidco and then, afterwards, persuaded Orange to transfer their old PAYG number to their new sim?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Reportedly, Orange do transfer numbers from PAYG to new contracts, but this possibly depends on your luck. The problem is that she wants to keep her current number as she runs a little business and the number on her business cards is her current number. Anyway, you can always port the number in two steps via another network free PAYG sim.0 -
My daughter recently changed from Orange PAYG to an Orange monthly SIM only contract. I didn't realise that I could have ordered it as an upgrade, so I ordered the SIM (via the Orange website) and when it arrived I phoned Orange customer services to transfer the number. There was no problem at all, the number transferred that day, and they also transferred the Phone Fund credit and remaining credit on from the PAYG phone. I don't know if I was just lucky, but it was surprisingly painless!0

Celticstar - I transferred to Orange sim only when my min term came to an end with Orange. You have to pay to access voice mail, so this will increase the cost of your monthly bill if this is something that is used. With my previous Orange contract it was included "free of charge", you can ask them to remove this, its 29.2p each time you access the voicemail.
As you said it is a low user have you considered ovivo? Or even consider paying a tenner a month for Orange Sim only rolling monthly contract so you can get out at short notice if you wish. I'm a low user of my mobile and would rather have went to ovivo than tied myself into a 12 month deal Orange.
I know this doesn't answer your specific questions, but you did ask for advice on Orange, and I think it is worth considering the additional charges with the Sim only 12 month offering.0 -
You should just be able to order the SIM via the cashback site and then once it's active with a temporary number, you can get in touch with Customer Service.
It is called a Love Your Number transfer and is quite common. All you do is give them the new number from the new SIM and also the PAYG number and tell them you want to transfer the PAYG across to the contract one and it's usually done within 24 hrs ish!0 -
you have to watch orange with topcash and quidco, have a habit of not payingDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Thank you to everyone who has answered and given advice - I've found it very helpful and passed it onto my friend so she can make up her mind what to do. It's good to know that people have managed to buy via Top Cashback but kept their own number.
grumbler you're right it is £60 cashback, that's what happens when you post in the early hours of the morning!
Del Astra I have passed on the info. about Ovivo to my friend, thank you.0 -

Hi,
I recently bought a new phone from Orange with a sim included with £10 free credit. Obviously I wanted to use it but keep my number.
Once I had called customer services they transferred the number over within 10 minutes, it was literally one of the most painless phone calls I've made to a service provider!0 -
Anyone tried the recent £11/month 12 month sim with £80 quidco? I did, it didn't track & I'm thinking of cancelling. Any advice? Been 3 days, quidco can't submit claim for 30 days & suggest considering cancelling instead... hmm...you have to watch orange with topcash and quidco, have a habit of not payingCertain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!0
