I have an Asian name, so clearly Google think I'm a terrorist :rotfl:
It was DEFINITELY google wallet. I have re-tried via the actual google wallet website, by deleting the 2 rejected cards and re-adding one, still no luck.
The email was from checkout-compliance @ google.com
And said
Hello,
During a recent review of your Google Checkout account, we were unable to
verify your information for MY NAME
As a result, your account has been temporarily suspended and you will be
unable to place orders. In order to resolve this situation, please provide
us with the requested information within 3 business days by filling out
this form
https:// checkout.google.com/support/sell/bin/request.py?contact_type=verification_gmri
Please note that failure to provide us with the requested documentation
may result in account closure.
Yours Sincerely,
The Google Checkout Team
This has been widely reported on google search results.
Being google, there is no phone number, or any explanation.
It might well be a genuine email, but I am dubious. Why on Earth are these stupidly stringent things in place only for SOME people?
Absolutely poor show.

That's not my blog, by the way
Any other ideas, anyone?
Has no one else experienced this? Seems prolific among others on the net
Could I get around it by buying a voucher to redeem instead ?0 -
Well it depends on how to approach it.
One "interesting" way - as they are clearly wanting ID by a non secure way is to raise it with the information commissioners office or given that it is a financial transaction related issue consult the financial services ombudsman.0 -

Click on the final link in post #6, report it as a potential phishing attempt and see what they have to say? According to their own help pages the email should have originated from another address.Account security is important to Google, and we review accounts on a regular basis. If we're unable to verify the information in your account, we'll request additional information from you by sending an email from noreply@wallet.google.com or noreply@Wallet.l.google.com.If you're concerned about the legitimacy of a Google-related email, you can report the suspicious email. Make sure that you click 'Yes' to the question 'Did the message appear to be from someone impersonating Google?'0
