If you use comparison sites, the Insurers appearing strip their cover to the bear minimum as people on such sites buy on price so to appear in the top three they offer very basic cover

If you ever look at Insurers who offer cover direct and through brokers, they often have different covers through the different channels.
Aviva offer much wider cover through brokers than they do for direct or comparison sites.
Generally the different channels have customers shopping on different basis eg on price alone or on cover.
The Aviva direct charges for foreign use and does not include the free European breakdown cover0
