Definitely a Yes. As a Loquax immigrant, I've been getting used to the new format used by MSE, and it works very well. However, Loquax was a site dedicated to making entering competitions as easy and flexible as possible, with many ways to search for competitions, by site, prize, uploaded date, end date etc. The Closing Today, Closing tomorrow and so on was invaluable to ensure (quickly) that I had entered all relevant competitions before they closed.
I enter competitions by Thread Start date and used End date to fill in anything I miss. Even if it is not perfect, it is still good. Sorting in MSE does list the comps by end date, only problem is I have to hunt to find the start page for the date I want and then pages keep changing as new competitions are added.
MSE is a forum (as Loquax now is, essentially) and functions in quite a different way and I quite appreciate that it can be difficult to change things. If the End date function could take info from the old format automatically, maybe everyone could be happy.:)
For the bit in bold, there's a couple of add ons you can use for Firefox (maybe other browsers too?) called Snaplinks and Multilinks that mean you can open multiple links at a time.
I personally open each page that has an end days competitions on, say if ending tomorrow was on pages 10 to 20, I'd open all of them pages up and then work through them that way, they won't move around then as you've got them open ready to open in another new tab and enter.
It's harder at the end of the month with so many ending then, but I just do them in stages as there's too many to do all at once anyway.
Hope that helps0 -
Thanks for the tip, bargainhuntergal, will give it a go. Once I finish a page I refresh it to catch anything that changes then go on to the next, but multiple pages sounds nice. Just to clarify for the forum, before the End date sort button came in, I was quite happy and getting very familiar with the way things are done in MSE, (when in Rome, you learn to speak Roman), but if there is an option, I think an End date sort, starting with Today, is a good idea.0
